On your first day find the biggest, meanest guy there and kick his ass. It's the only way anyone will respect you.

Back to what suntz said (#40) find an old copy of Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki. Or, maybe better, youtube videos.I practice court jesters English. Its the future
Being a cart attendant sucks. You are the store's bitch. Someone covered the bathroom in feces = call the cart attendant. Geiger counter is going off in the break room = call the cart attendant.
Ask about cross training as soon as you've demonstrated that you're a reliable employee. If you're a good employee they're going to want to put you somewhere else. Volunteer to take shifts when people don't show up or call in sick or want to use vacation time, there will be lots of opportunities to take other people's shifts and none of the jobs are difficult to learn.
At the very least you can come away from it with some references and if you like it iirc Shift Leads make $12 - $20 an hour, ETLs start around $45k and Store Managers start around $90k.
LOL yeah that's pretty true. At our store we had 3 guys who worked cart attendant.
One was an old guy who wore a turban and couldn't speak English. One was a mentally handicapped guy. The last was a guy who had urinary incontinence and REEKED LIKE PISS so badly.
Get out of that position as fast as you can. You are at the very bottom of the totem pole.
You aren't in HR at Target, are you?I'll give you the same advise I got over the radio one day.
"Always suck off the boss"
...It was a bad connection and I had to fill in some static gaps
