32 ROPs on 580....

That chart is riddled with errors. Like, too many to even bother naming.

Seems to have beat AMD in every metric, even the ones that don't matter.. like performance per watt, performance per mm2, noise, and power draw... While still being faster.

I don't see how they'll spin the 7970 after this, looks like they're clutching onto OC'ing atm though.

Those may not matter to you but they matter to me. I have noises all day outside, around the house with 3 boys and all their friends and when i go into my man cave I don't like more noise. I go to relax. Read web, pay some SC2, check stocks, etc and don't need whine. That's why I water cool everything and only system fans is radiator fans running at an inaudible 800rpm while still giving me very high performance. These matrics matter a lot. hence why sites focus several pages on them.

Half the thread is bullshit fanboyism anyway. I'll wait for real reviews and buy a low power, best performance card with best p/p ratio like most will.

I wonder whose sock puppet account the above post is related to. Only have to guess as far as the genius who posts Nvidia's CEO in other tasteless immature pics. Sad what it really says about that poster.

The fact that the thread was created by a long time lurker makes me wonder also. Who joins and then makes their first post almost 5yrs later.

Except the charts are fake and therefore we don't know if it actually is better on all those metrics, if on any at all. I'll wait for the real reviews, but from an engineering standpoint the GTX 680/GK104 is supposed to be 65% faster at most than the GTX 560 Ti/GF114 unless they had an engineering breakthrough, which I doubt.

I'll stay with my estimate of 10% slower to 10% faster than the HD 7970.

The guy at overclock3D posted a video today with some bubble plastic covering a video card, so release may be very soon

Nice to be acknowledged. I guess we said something that really pissed the guy off. Like maybe wanting somebody to back up something they said.
The nerve of us. :O

And Tviceman, no worries. It's a compliment. It lets us know we really got under somebody's skin and they have to create a new account because they can't really face us. Aint dat rite itchy? ;)

Back on topic I guess. So Blackened23 can you please tell us what you know is inaccurate in that graph? Much obliged.

Spammer has been dealt with.

FYI – it’s not a good idea to quote spam pictures because they stay in the thread after the spammer has been dealt with. It’s best to just report them. Thanks.

I'm flattered. I didn't even see your post until the picture. I had to back up to realize what was going on. I was genuinely interested, as the only error I noticed was Tahiti's die size.

365mm^2 ??
352mm^2 ??

Most review sites have it at 365 including AT. So I think that is right IMHO.

I know AMD sent out "correction notices" with regards to Tahiti's die size, but yeah I really don't know, nor do I really particularly care all that much. It's interesting only from a conversational perspective, but it does not at all influence my buying decisions. On a semi-related note, Nvidia hadn't been to keen on sharing official die sizes with the GT200 and Fermi generation. I wonder if they (Nvidia) are the ones publicly talking about Gk104's die size.

Were those the same correction notices that Bulldozer's transistor count went out on? hehe. ():)

Hey check your schedule for tomorrow and make sure our top secret meeting with Jen Jsen Huang is still on. I think our top agenda should be thinking of more reasonable questions to ask that will infuriate first time posters.

Anyways, back on topic. These cards are going to be an amazing deal for $300. :)

Seriously though, I'm not optimistic of any of the pricing from either company. I swear they are colluding to gouge the hell out of us. I'm not liking it.

Yeah the pricing of every single 28nm GPU thus far has really sucked compared to what the price and performance brought vs. the last several node changes.

Funny!

About the pricing, these are high end cards and if it performs equivalently to the 7970 which is pushing 600 bucks now, and people are buying them, that is what the market is willing to bear. Of course we all wish they were half that for this level of performance.
