My power hungry 470s can do 960 core, which is what a 58% overclock on a 220w TDP card with two 6 pins?

Not sure if 6+6 will limit it or not, probably in extreme LN2 benches, but people will just short the OVP and use a booster board anyways...

Come on, you really think that the GTX680 will be inferior to the 7970? The GK110 whatever version will not be released soon. I'm sure we'll see a dual GK104 first.

I meant that from an engineering standpoint. It's all but a given that the GTX680 will be slightly faster than the 7970, but I'd like to see a comparison between Pitcarn and GTX660/Ti.

Nvidia already has slides drawn up showing their 680 being faster while using less power
Nvidia has created slides that shows their product is better than their main competitor's card? You don't say...

Well, I guess we don't need reviews anymore. We have Nvidia slides now. Pack it up, Anand. Your time has come and gone.

That wasn't how I meant it but judging from the rest of your post it's not hard to see why you took it the wrong way.

No offense, but there's only one way your post could have been interpreted. Any other way would have been erroneous.

I don't care. I wouldn't buy any of them.

You don't have to buy it --- you'll get it for free from nvidia.

And this is not an attack, I'm just saying, or pointing out that you CAN honestly make this comment, while still getting the best. Having your cake and eating it too. Lovely, isn't it?

Anyway, has anyone else smelled the tell-tale scent of Nvidia black-ops PR from the beginning of Tahiti release? All these little leaks, coming from oversees about pricing ($300!!!), performance (40-60% over!!!), mid-range die (wait til BigK!!!!)..

To what end? Just to keep doubt in people's mind and hold off on buying. Now the truth comes too --- It's not $300, it's performance will be in-line with Tahiti (but at what cost? No clock headroom?), and Nvidia is making this their high end because they have no choice.

Nvidia should just slap a TWIMTBP sticker on all their fanboys!

No you could have interpreted it as he did and assumed I meant it was an infallible unquestionable truth.

Or you could be a logic driven consumer and know Nvidia isn't going to release a slide saying lower power, higher performance if it doesn't deliver that in reproducible cases.

What it doesn't say, which is what someone too deep in red would counter it with... Is that the 680 is faster in everything and consumes a gross amount less in power while doing it.

More to the point, a 350w TDP 7970 clocked to 1125 might be faster, but it's going to look like ass compared to a 185w TDP 680. Which is what the comment was used for. Instead it was taken way out of context because someone felt stating the obvious which had nothing to do with the point would mean something.

Yeah - they just assaulted a freighter off the coast of Cuba that was broadcasting an AMD signal.

Come on, nvidia black ops?

I swear some people think amd/nvidia aren't two faceless corporations releasing competing products but rather teams of sweaty guys in red or green tights fighting each other over the fate of the free world, hoping that each product release will be the secret weapon or magic power that will wipe out the other side so that all of humanity can bask in the glory of the One True GPU.

 Geez, you take things too literal --- Lighten up a bit.

I promise I didn't mean guns and raids and assassinations!

It was more the "It's all a conspiracy!" angle, which is pretty much par for the course. That makes no sense, when the alternative is a bunch of random hit-seeking bloggers making stuff up to promote themselves and their websites.

You're dreaming if you think that is a likely scenario

The Dutch article says that the 680 will be "officially available on March 23rd". That is 6 days from now.

They also mention rumours about production problems, and that the 680 could be out of stock "for a while".

What interests me is how effective TXAA may be and how compatible it may be?

Curious to know if there are any improvements in filtering?

It really is good to see such strong efficiency from nVidia, but, for me, still disappointed in the rumored price based on the size of the chip and see performance/value take a back seat so far with 28nm product.

nVidia must be licking their chops with the margin potential with this chip -- and I can't strongly defend this.

TL;DR (well, I did skim over your post and got the "gist" of it).
You use "TL;DR" after you wrote a page long post that basically looked like something out of a company marketing textbook, and then proceed to write a huge paragraph about why you think an unreleased card is the best buy based on rumors and speculations after "skimming" through his post?

And you also have the audacity to try to claim your opinions are unbiased.

Hilarious. Please, tell me you're being compensated for this.

Oh, you mean like the slide they released claiming that their ARM cpu was 2x as powerful as a C2D?

Come on Elfear, this took me 5 seconds.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...n=7970&x=0&y=0

Prices just on newegg right now range from 549.99 to 579.99 for STOCK clocked 7970 and an overclocked model at 594.99. So dude, am I wrong now? You have to be just as fair as you ask me to be and it would have been nice if you were good enough to post this spectrum instead of trying to make me look like a liar. One thing I could have worded better. "Some" 7970 are pushing 600. Admitted. Thanks bud.

That's all I was aiming at. You said "if it performs equivalently to the 7970 which is pushing 600 bucks now" which makes it sound like the new street price of the 7970 is $600. I was pointing out that that's not true. My personal opinion is that if you are a member of Nvidia's focus group and you want to ensure you're posts don't come off as marketing talk, you take extra precautions in how you represent the competition. Stating that the 7970 is now pushing $600 sounds like marketing speak when many are easily available for $550 (only one card at Newegg is $600).

Maybe it was an honest mistake but, if I were getting free hardware from Nvidia, I'd be extra careful how I represented AMD if I wanted to avoid the image that my opinions were bought and paid for.

Think the hardware from both companies is going to be pretty close to call, I think it will come down to drivers where nVidia is stronger than AMD (That gap has been closing) but you have to remember, nVidia is first a software company then hardware, whereas AMD is hardware first and software secondly.

AMD`s driver team needs to go into Over-Drive. I’ve not seen any major driver release for HD7XX0 cards since release, here’s to hoping they saved them for when it counts.

This review / benchmark is fake but since some here are championing it, i'll ask the obvious: I see people stating a 40% performance increase over the 7970. Here I see 1 fps faster than a stock 7970 and MW3 being the same speed. Batman: AC being a TWIMTBP title, is slightly faster.

Note, I'm just being hypothetical here, I strongly believe this "review" is completely fake and fan made. If reviews next week pan out like this I expect to see a lot of backpeddling. In the meantime, rollo really should work harder at making his graphs more believable.

I want to like AMD, but I seem to always have sour results with them. My 9700 was a fantastic card, but the 4870's that I used a while ago were constantly giving me troubles. I've never had problems with nvidia cards or drivers. I've been rock stable and extremely happy with my 470 that I got for 220 bucks 2 years ago. Best card I've ever had TBH.

Is my math off, where is the 40% dudes? Unless people are giddy about paying 550$ to be 1 fps faster than the 7970. Haha,
so you now take a fake number and compare it with another fake number? That's really
