They are going to have to do something. In a matter of 3 days, a GTX670 $399 will make HD7950 irrelevant. If custom GTX670 OC come out at $430, 7950 would likely need to drop to $360 or maybe even $350. Of course AMD can choose to do nothing and hope GTX670 is also OOS shortly after launch.

If custom 670s mimic the results of those 2-3 Gigabyte OC cards at OCN, then HD7950/7970 and reference GTX680s won't look so hot.

Depends on how good NV's yields are, if its "lower than expected", there should could be more gtx670 skus than gtx680.

FTFY. It depends on why yields are low. The chips could just be borked. Although I understand that's not likely. Just saying that we don't know what availability will be. The problem could be more wafer starts than yields?

Looks like Gigabyte GTX670 OC is identical to the GTX680 OC version. That means two added phases for the memory subsystem over the reference 680 -- thus that's a 4+2 phase design for their GTX670 OC card. It has also retained the 6 + 8-pin power connectors from the 680 OC version compared to 2x6-pin for the reference 680:

where are you getting that from? the cards that have 6+8 pin usually have 150% max power limit. it would make no sense for an oced 6+8 pin card to have less than the 132% of the reference card.

Nope, I would any day take a 7970 over it at $400. Once both are overclocked the 7970 >= 680 at 1440p with MSAA. This thing will be a good 10% slower at those settings.

If this thing is 400 bucks, then the 7970 should be 400 bucks too.

And 7950 should be $300.

if it becomes the crystal clear winner by dropping the price that much, the price has simply dropped too low.

$450 for the current 7970 and $350 for the current 7950 would be fair. Maybe $500 for a 1GHz edition 7970.

Has anybody noticed this yet, a 670 OC @ 1400 core scores X3400 in 3D Mark. A 680 at 1150 scores higher and even my 7970 at 1175 scores a bit higher than this.

So a 680 at 1150 is going to beat this probably by scoring 3400ish as well. So 680 at 1200+ or 7970 at 1200+ are both going to best that thing by a good 5-15% (avg 10%) even if the 670 is at 1400 Mhz which itself is not sureshot even for custom 670s I guess.

3DMark is synthetic crap and therefore doesn't reflect anything real.

Use a wide variety of games if you want something accurate.
