I grabbed the whole slobbering FF mess.
I don't like change and it didn't give me any reason to stay changed.

My favorite thing about Firefox as of late is that it crashes 5 times a day. It simply does not know what to do with any sort of page error. One of the sites I frequent was down (ie server was down). Instead of just timing out or stopping, it froze and forced a restart. This happens everyday. I have all the latest updates.

Tabs to me sound just as usefull as the tabs on your toolbar at the bottom. Less sites work on Firefox, and I still get as many popups as I do IE. Maybe if I found a worthwhile plugin I would beleive in the power of FireFox.

The only instance I can think of where Firefox would be a better choice than IE would be on a computer prone to spyware that's used by a user who doesn't know common procedures to follow to make the computer immune to spyware.

I just loaded up the same page in Opera and in IE. Opera used 26MB of RAM while IE used 29MB. My entire Opera installation folder is only 6MB. Where's the bloat? Are you just referring to the Opera skin "feeling" bloated?

Personally I find that FireFox runs a lot better under Linux opposed to Windows. I mainly use Firefox because of the extensons and tabs. I also find that it reduces the amount of spyware greatly. The popup blocker was really good at first, but now it doesn't do a very good job.

I just have the latest version on IE 6 with SP1 & 2.......... since installation of SP2 I've only had 1 or 2 pop ups show up.

Google's adblock isn't opensource.

It includes too many features as default, that shouldn't be default. I'd rather have the option of adding them myself than have it come prepackaged.

I wouldn't say it's over-rated; it merely is what it is. It's free, it's not MS, it's functional, has a plethora of plugins, and perhaps best of all, it is regularly patched and updated. Oh yeah, I love the tabbed browsing. Other than the fanbois, most people realize it's nothing more than a stable browser.

Because it's not IE

I personally don't like FireFox. I much preffer Mozilla. Yes, there's a difference. For one, the mail client in Mozilla will let you open mail links in a new tab.

I don't remember my complaints about Firefox but I uninstalled it and didn't like it.

I use Mozilla but some day, if I am forced to use FF I will go back to it.

Opera v Firefox.

Memory management tends to be a bit better under Opera. Both could use improvements, however. As of this post (using Opera):
  • Tabs: 32
    Memory Usage: 21,880 K
I confess I fail to see the bloat as well.
