What's the point of version numbers anymore?

In other news, Chrome 14? Really?!?

Im still waiting on stuff like my Garmin Communicator plugin to be updated to work with FF5.

Lol, Firefox 7 is also scheduled to be released this year. 3 years to go from Firefox 3 to Firefox 4. Less than 9 months to go from Firefox 4 to Firefox 7.

if it would auto update and not break plugins i dont think anyone would care. i switched to chrome months ago and havent had to replace plugins or lose functionality with the updates.

One has to wonder what they'll do when they start getting into the 20's. Firefox version 28 doesn't sound as cool anymore. Even worse the higher you go... Firefox version 73...

If Firefox would automatically update in the background like Chrome does, nobody would give a damn what the version number is and just use their browser for the simple task it was meant to be used for.

Actually, if it updated then all the extensions didn't break... that would make it not matter, but the extensions break.
