So how are you suppose to fix it please?

For me it isn't enough of a problem to need a fix. See it every once in a while and goes away in a second or two. Has no bearing in the functionality of the browser.

Firefox doesn't repaint the tab - I switch from tab A to tab B. First I still see tab A and then, partially at first, tab B's content starts showing
I've seen this problem here at the library on Firefox 37.0.1 once in a while as well, where a tab is blank/just disappears. I wonder if switching the tabs to the square Developer Mode ones would help. My graphics in about:support say "Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset" if that helps.

When I am on my last fm home page http://www.last.fm/user/Puffnstuff it will crash continuously.
Interesting. I haven't had this page crash yet after 15 minutes with around 8 tabs open, but no sound is coming out even though it says "Listening Now", and it still seems to still be playing the first song after all this time. :hmm: :awe:

That's weird, however since I've started viewing my page with chrome the problem hasn't reoccurred. I've had multiple tabs open on ff and, apart from a slowdown, I've not had any crashes. I've also not heard back from mozilla on the source of the problem seeing that I filed a bug report with them about it.

Fixed - A race condition that would cause Firefox to stop painting when switching tabs (bug 1067470)

I wonder if this is the one some of us were taking about above.

Anyone know what entails a Pocket, and how it differs from a Folder or a Tag?

I am updating soon also, except that I will download the EME Free version

Doesn't look so useful to me, and I don't like third parties monitoring my web usage. It's also proprietary software, and therefore doesn't belong in Firefox.

Thanks for the link and comments. Ya, don't need another set of eyes following me around. Too many already.

The new distraction-free reading mode does exactly what you think it does. It works like similar features in other browsers in that it extracts the actual article text from a website, displays that, and hides all of the ads, menus and other distractions on the site. There are not a lot of features here, but you can change the size of the font, switch between sans-serif and serif fonts for viewing the text, and choose between a light, dark and sepia background. The Reader View, too, features a prominent Pocket button.

I have ABP to hide ads, and I'm satisfied with that. Will try to disable the Pocket, or at least hide it.

Reader view strips the ads...but, then again, that is what adblockplus does as well.
Dunno if it is that useful though. Kinda nice to be able to change fonts on the fly, and on the fly color changing is kinda nice as well.

They keep adding more and more bloat, instead of having these as plugins people can get if they want them.

In about:config, I set browser.pocket.enabled to false, per the instructions in the above link.

While the Pockets icon disappeared from the FF menubar, I still see the icon for View Pockets List under the Bookmark list. Here are additional booleans under about:config

browser.pocket.useLocaleList is set to True
browser.toolbarbuttons.introduced.pocket-button is set to True

I set each boolean to false, and View Pockets List is still there under Bookmarks. The instructions didn't recommend touching these last 2 booleans. I don't see any other impact. Any idea wtf I did?

Just remove the Pocket icon using Customize Firefox. Then the "View Pockets List" is removed from bookmarks.

Looks to me like this is just a way to bookmark something but have it sync with your other devices... after creating an account for it.

I must admit that the new Reader View is useful, although I used a 3rd part add-on before. Until now, it seems to run faster than the add-on, although it's not so customizable.

"View Pocket List" + "Subscribe to This Page" menu items still appear when the Menu Bar is enabled, and then clicking the Bookmarks dropdown menu. But if you click Show All Bookmarks, it doesn't appear inside of that window. And: Customize Firefox doesn't allow access for adjusting those items, as far as I can tell.

Agree with vailr. I tried to right click on drop down of bookmarks, and there is no delete option. Opening all bookmarks, I don't find the View Pockets List icon/bookmark. Ditto with opening Customize Firefox. Doesn't appear to be an option to remove the bookmark. So I guess I'll have to suck it up and ignore it.

This is not an enhancement that I care to use. It would require an additional login for me every session to use my bookmarks. That is because I do not store passwords and I delete all history and cookies at the end of every session. What is next on the FF hit parade?

Also I notice that the Options page has been reworked. It appears as a total window with links on the left side, instead of the familiar small window with tabs. Perhaps easier to read. Very minor is that a scroll bar is need on some pages.

I just tried 38.0.5 Linux i686 version, and when I click on that "3 lines icon" on the very right then press Customize at the bottom of it, I can drag the Pocket icon from the urlbar area into the "Additional Tools and Features" box, and it disappears from the Bookmarks menu (like pictured):

I don't know, if it works the same in the Windows version though.

It does.

At least for me.

With either "Classic Theme Restorer" or "Classic Toolbar Buttons" Add-ons enabled, the icon is missing when in Customize mode. Those Add-ons probably need an update to correctly work with Pockets. So: temporarily disable those to gain access to disable the Pockets icon.

it didn't for me.. too much forced BS. I've used firefox since forever (got really happy when 1.0 was released, etc.). Uninstalled it, and installed Pale Moon... it has classic Firefox look to it. without any of last 3 force feed features

just read that mozilla will be paying big bucks to fix malware problems with firefox which is great news.

Mozilla has more than doubled the cash rewards under its dusty bug bounty to beyond $10,000. The browser baron has increased the reward for high-severity bugs such as those leading to remote code execution without requiring other vulnerabilities.

Engineer Raymond Forbes says the bounty had not been updated in five years and had fallen out of step.
