click tools then options, why are the top pictures screwed up (main, feeds, and security)? and where do you go now to configure extensions and themes?

To answer your first question, they're fine on my end. For the second, it's Tools -> Add-ons.

x64 bit available?

I haven't seen one yet, I'm just running the 32-bit version (on Vista RC2 x64). Probably would be a pain to get plugins like Flash and Java to work under a 64-bit browser anyway...(at least, that's what I've found when experimenting with a 64-bit version of FF in the past)

2.0 isn't working here. After installing, it opens up two blank tabs. Bookmarks didn't transfer over and neither did the rest of my profile. Back to 1.5 for me (which is what I used to post this).

ETA - So I guess I'm going back to Opera for a little bit until Firefox gets their kinks worked out.

I don't understand the obsession with the Noia theme, I installed it and thought it was hideous, both now with FF 2.0 and at least a year earlier when a friend showed it to me.

I have to agree, I've not seen a better FF theme than the default. In fact, I like the old pre-2.0 default better than the current one, as well.

The Noia is hideous. I have no idea why it is so popular.

I installed the theme because I've been looking for something better and miss the 1.5 default, but man... Noia filled me with unprecedented amounts of rage. That thing is TERRIBLE. The Pimp theme is better that that pile.

On a addon related note, I used to have a addon that was cumbersome, but got the job done, that gave me a 2nd shortcut hotbar. Anyone aware of a good extension that adds another one, or as many as I want?

Only issue ive seen is that it appears to have javascript. Ive had it crash on me a lot when it tries to load something using javascript.

Working just great for me!
Anyone know how to get rid of the "Search Bar"? I use Google Advanced Search exclusively.

When I want to search, I can go to my bookmarks!

gahhh the crashness. I can't connect to webct-based sites.

And the new scroll tab thing is just stupid. I hate it with a passion.

scroll tab?

I usually open up w/ a ton of tabs (3 AT sites, news sites, all my email sites, AT threads of interests, lol).

After about 10 tabs, it scrolls outside of the range of the GUI, and has these arrows. The tabs look more uniform now, whereas they used to squish together before. I just hate having to scroll through the tabs on the tab bar to get to the page I want. IE7 has a FAR superior way of controlling the tabs by having a thumbnail view of all tabs.

cntrl-tab'ing btwn tabs in IE7 is more streamlined and a lot lot faster. FF still has a few memory problems, but it's a lot better than before. But it still can't handle java/flash heavy sites en-mass.

I also hate how they included the close button on each tab. I'm accidentally closing tabs by inadvertendly clicking on the goddamn X. At least in IE7, you have to click on the TAB FIRST, then click X to close it. ugh. I hate it. Just get rid of it, or do it how IE7 does it.

I don't like how the bookmarks are handled. It's not nearly as intuitive (GUI-wise) as IE7. It's just a simple menu drop, and no quick option to put it on the side. IE7 has better implmentation (organized in explorer-like fashion, and it's a quick button, w/ quick dock ability).

IE7 > Opera > FF 1.5 >>> FF 2.0.
I still use IE7 because it's within windows shell, new-tab button, the integration w/ Office, quicker load times, website compatibility, language compatibility, thumbnailed tabs, great implentation of Favorites/history viewers, hardware compatibility (for my logitech mouse and its gazillion buttons I use for browsing habits such as fwd, back, refresh, close) etc.

I don't want to spend hours trying to customize FF w/ add-ons when IE7 comes w/ everything I want.

I noticed on some installations of firefox 2 (on various computers) that if I select a url from the location dropdown list, it will not load that page. On some of them, it will automatically load, on others I need to hit enter or click the go button.

Any way to fix this? I want it to go automatically.

I don't have any issues, except for the fact that I haven't noticed any change in memory use. Firefox 2.0 is using around 230MB, just like 1.5 did.

Has anyone else not noticed a change in memory usage?

sorry for the noob question.

what's the procedure for installing FF2 if you want to keep the existing ver1.5 to rollback on?

Install it into a different directory. Instead of the normal "C:\Program Files\Firefox" put it in "C:\Program Files\Firefox 2" or whatever you want. Just make sure it's not the same as the one Firefox 1.5 is in.

i did that, but i thought that since FF stores the user profile data under /doc and settings/user/app data/moz/firefox', that my ver1.5 data and ver2.0 data would get jumbled or shared. i ran 2.0 once, then went back to 1.5 and my session data (through tab mix plus) was still intact so i guess it's ok for now. thanks
