Fry's had it for $24 on BF. Some guy who was also looking for Call of Duty 2 (sold out) remarked that we both had Firefly, Stargatet 8, Civ4. That was weird.

I might by a buncha copies and give away as presents on x-mas.

That's actually a damn good idea.

right....pushing firefly on everyone you can.... that really worked for increasing the fan base for serenity right? lol, it just turns off a great deal of people who are severely dissapointed by the hyped series.

One of the reasons for Firefly's demise was that it was not shown on TV sequentially. I'm renting the series from Netflix to check it out.

I rented it from Blockbuster after seeing Serenity, then ended up buying it I liked both, I liked them so much. Good stuff.

For what it's worth, I'll give my opinion on the matter.

I picked up the Firefly DVDs about a week ago, since then I've gone through the entire 14 episode series and Serenity in that week. I am usually the type of person that takes a while to get through a TV series I have the DVDs for, but I was just hooked on Firefly. I would say it's one of my favorite shows of all time, and given that we only got to see the first 14 episodes and not really even get into the core of the plot (which was expanded on in the movie) that is saying a lot. Whoever said that it had typecast characters didn't watch past the pilot. The characters are very typecast in the pilot, but throughout the series they develope into the most unique set of characters I've seen in a show, a remarkable feat through only 14 episodes.

I picked up BSG as well, and it's taking me forever to get through that. It looks like it has promise, but after the pilot and first episode it has slowed to a bore. Hopefully it will pick back up soon enough for me not to give up on it.

BSG is a much slower series with a much bigger story, well if you are really patient.. It took a while to get into it, but it is a good watch. When new episodes are out I am more anxious to watch SG-1 and Atlantis and then BSG last, but I actually think BSG is a better series at this point in time. SG-1 was simply awesome the 1st 4-5 years and then 2 seasons ago was pretty sweet too. Atlantis is just stupid with a jillion holes in it..

BSG is slower. It's really more of a drama in a sci-fi setting IMO. If you're expecting fast paced action sequences back-to-back you're going to be disappointed.

Hmm, thats kinda what happend to me with Buffy. I might have to check it out, since it was done by JW as well.

I'm a new convert to the series as well. I saw the movie, and caught a couple episodes on sci-fi..now i have to buy the series and watch them all. The interplay of the characters is the real draw for me. I think its a bit like the original Star Trek, in that the character banter is an important part of the show. Anyhow, good stuff.
