Sorry, I meant with MSVC 6. Yes, the newer versions have more opt flags.

man... i really liked firebird...
the only problem was that to install extensions, i could only do it as root. not too bad but stilll...
so then i go for the tabbed browsing extension
BOOM... firebird wont start up anymore at all... if i look at my process list there's five instances of mozillafirebird-bin just sitting there doing nothing, so i tried unemerging and re-emerging: firebird still wont start
i deleted my home directory's firebird folder... still no firebird...

now i have to use mozilla because of stupid non-starting firebird

I have a recent build of firebird on my server machine to try it out. After poking through the extensions and installing some that I like, I still prefer Opera. The Amazon plugin is GREAT though, especially now since Amazon bought cdnow. Perhaps I didn't take enough time to customize Firebird, but it just doesn't have the level of refinement that Opera does. I can see why some people like having a barebones browser, but Opera = :heart:

First follow these instuctions for removing the extension manually, then, if you still want to try that extension try using the latest version. If you still run into difficulties, PM me.

Edit: Oh, you may also want to try deleting your profile if all else fails, which is held in a different folder.

Same here. Mozilla just seems to run better on my machine and I've installed both to try them out. However, I can definitely say that mozilla/firebird>>>>>>>>>IE. I can't believe I waited this long to switch! mmmmmm.....tabbed browsing.......😀

Extensions that need to be root to install aren't worth using, IMO. No reason why they should need to install system-wide.

my only 617ch about FB: i want the feature that IE has under tools\internet options\ temporary internet files\settings\ check for newer versions of stored pages\ and here is a choice of four options.
i select "every time IE starts" because that way, when i hit the back
button, the page doesnt have to be downloaded again.
BUT.......this is a minor 617ch, i love FB and will never go back to IE again, after using FB for about 1 month daily. 🙂

In general, Firebird should not interfere with your HTML file associations and stuff, unless you tell it to (I've never had any problem with Mozilla in this regard). I've never personally experienced any bad interaction between Moz and IE.
