greets

(using XP Pro btw.)

love firebird and thunderbird

didnt like IE that much, and always hated outlook. was using pegasus mail until i got a hold of thunderbird

actually i like FB that much that i just changed my sig 🙂
Especially how you can configure and expand FB with all that extensions...great !
Just wish that google toolbar extension (not the one already integrated) for FB would be in the SAME row like the adress bar (DUH !!), a MUST.....and maybe a bit better integration of FlashGet.
Otherwise i am very happy with it !!

Spread the word 🙂

why is outlook bad ?
I never tried ThunderBird btw....does it also do newsgroups ?

greets

Whatever you do, don't use the firebird tab extension, it makes it slow to a crawl.

I've never experienced any slowdowns w/ TBE installed. Are you using the latest? (Oct. 2 version).

I was liking FB a lot, but the yesterday and today, it's been having a serious case of the jitters and it annoyed me to the point of going back to IE 6. But I couldn't do w/o tabbed browsing, so I went w/ Mozilla 1.4. It's not perfect, either, but it'll do until they get FB straightened out.

You can move around objects on the toolbar by right-clicking it and selecting "customize." I don't know for sure if it works with the Google Toolbar, but you could give it a shot.

Why is Outlook bad? Did you miss what happened to the source code of Half-Life 2? Using Outlook gets your computer hacked and all your secrets stolen. Yes, Thunderbird and Mozilla's mailnews do newsgroups.

I have Opera, firebird and thunderbird all installed 🙂 I use Opera mainly just becuase there is no easy way to get Opera bookmarks over into FB.

hmm... i am going to have to check out Firebird once it goes live (ie 1.0 version). looks nice. i've used Mozilla, which is good, but not enough to replace IE.

CTho9305, have your tried one of the custom builds like aebrahim's?? This are quite fast!!

I build my own because I test patches in bugzilla before they get committed. Still, I don't perceive it as being faster than Mozilla for browsing. Can you post the contents of "about:buildconfig" (copy that to your address bar) for his build?

He supplies various optomized builds, including -O6, -O7, SSE, SSE2, and many other combinations thereof. If you have a relatively recent computer, chances are one of his buillds will fit your system.

MSVC builds don't go beyond "-O". I was under the impression that above -O3 produced a lot of horked builds with gcc anyway.

works great for windoze, too. im using it right now with win2k.
and none of the security flaws that internet exploder has.
dont believe it? use internet exploder, run netstat -a.
then use firebird, run netstat -a. youll see the difference !
