heres another vote for getting the 250gb drive over the 200, especailly if its going to be your main and only drive

also, go with at least nec for the dvd burner, my personal fav is plextor, but whats right for me isnt necessairly right for you. you cant go wrong with nec, though

better mobo, check out Abit/Asus

the nice thing about upgrading your CPU later is you can then use it to build a second computer.

memory man... prices are better for 2 gigs of value ram. thats what i would change just off hand. I would also change that 200 dolla case to something like the antec sonata 2 with the psu in it.

why buy anything if you arent going to do the whole deal? to me, i wouldnt even buy that. I would do something like a 3000 venice... then upgrade later. I wouldnt dump the money into an expensive cpu. I would take that extra dough and put it into memory and a hard drive. thats my input. you could also save money and get a hyundai l90d+ lcd instead of that one.

The Epox isn't that expensive... it's right around $100 US

and that msi video card... wow man. that is so overpriced.

for that dough, i could build you a machine that would blow the doors off what you have.

edit, sorry, that is australian.... different world.

1.339 is the exchange rate... the epox doesnt look that bad then. i was thinking that was us dollars... man what a rip off if it was! not bad on the price then for that. i still think you could do better with the lcd, and get 2 gigs man. you wont regret that one. the case probably isnt too bad on the price. the antec would be a bit more. but a 7800gtx for 540... i dont guess thats bad. over all, i would change the lcd, the memory amount, and put a 3000 venice in it instead of spending alot on a processor you arent really gonna use for long. the hard drive is also a good combo.

I would suggest the Netgear RangeMax DG834PN ADSL2+ wireless modem/router and one of the RangeMax cards instead of the DLink...DLink has very poor customer service, the Rangemax has double the signal strength, and the Netgears tend to last longer...
They tend to be a bit more expensive, but they are well worth it in my experience.

the only things I have to say are

1. you should have gotten a 3800x2
2. your mobo supports SATA and SATA II, why did you get IDE?

processor doesn't make much difference when it comes to games, it's the video card that matters, and the 7800 GT is very good.

Also, I would wait on dual core it will not affect gaming performance much, if at all.

That being said, there isn't much difference between PATA(sometimes referred to as IDE, but SATA is IDE as well) SATA or SATA 2, though I do prefer SATA. The real bottleneck is the hard drive speed(RPM) and solid state drives(USB) will own IDE when they get more storage space.

So.... get the 3000 or 3200 and the 7800 GT

I have no experience with LCDS, I still prefer my 19" CRT.

I do know that Samsung, Dell, and NEC make good LCDs, some models have backlighting issues, but those can be RMAd, just like any bad equipment.
