Nice, Rich. I am the opposite. I had a couple of unplanned days off, and now will work straight through on a night shift, with 3 days off for each holiday. Then my work is done January 15.

Dude...you're slacking! I finished working until forever...14 years ago this past week. I don't have to call in sick...I don't have to schedule vacations...and I don't have to be pissed about (most) Mondays...EVERYDAY is a weekend day!

My Grandfather used to say he was retired, he was still a grandpa though. He was full time grandpa for many years. Guy never got time off from grandpa duty!

Poor man...fortunately, my grandkids are almost 1000 miles away...I only have to be an in-person grandpa every year or two...

Offices will be empty until next year, so I won't have to travel for the next 3 weeks. Working from the desk at home in my undies ftw.

I still have three total working days left in the year, but at this point it really doesn't matter. This time of the year is the equivalent of being 4:45p.m. on a Friday; keep working or don't, it won't make a difference.

If retirement makes you even as half miserable as BoomerD appears to be, I'll pass. I'm betting, though, that retirement didn't have a lot to do with it.

I have to work through Christmas. :( it's good money though, so it's kind of a catch 22. It's night shift, so I can still go visit family, have dinner etc, just kinda sucks not spending the whole day.

So far this winter is also very tame, no storms, so at least it's quiet. But I should not jinx it... It seems every year we end up with 100's of buildings without power and it's chaos trying to coordinate all the portable generators, while dealing with other stuff like broken poles and downed lines etc.

I'm finished work til Monday... :blinks:

Trying to decide how I want to handle the holidays. Two four day weekends? Maybe one long stretch bridging jul and new years? Perhaps split the difference with two five day weekends... That's what a weekend should be anyway, not this two day bullshit corporatists have foisted on the people...
