Thx everyone for their compliments.... really appreciate it.
On a side note... a lot of ppl have been asking me where I got the A/V rack. Well believe it or not..... WALMART!!! Thats right.
I bought it at Walmart for $80 and its very nice. Compared to ones I have seen at other places charging $200 and up I couldn't pass it up when I saw it for $80 at Walmart. So I took it home and put it together in about 35 mins.

Nice deal on the stand . I went shopping with my gf and we didn't find any we liked for under $150.

We ended up finding a discontinued floor model for $40 though.

I saw RCA and started laughing, at least you went with the DLP model though, should've gotten one of the Samsungs :)

Otherwise very nice...are you using the PC for gaming though? I wouldn't think you'd need to OC it that much, might be better to run it at stock settings and put a quieter fan in there, up to you though.

Actually.... I paid $1900 for it so the Sammy couldn't compete at that price. Also, on the AVS Forums the RCA Scenium HD50LPW162 is very respected. It uses the HD2+ chip which many consider superior to the newer HD3 chips

I completely agree that the HD2+ chips are the best way to go, but I refuse to own anything made by RCA. I've sold their stuff for long enough to know that it's crap, Samsung has never let me down so I'll pay more for something from them. That specific model is probably the exception to the rule though, hopefully it'll work out well for ya.
What do you guys think about the newest samsung DLPs? No official name IIRC but they're calling the chip HD4 I think? I don't like AVS forum, it makes my head hurt. The Samsung DLP thread is 133 pages as of last night... Too much to sort through.

Also the love seat in my house is at around a 40 degree viewing angle to the TV. How does a DLP look from that angle? Or do I need a plasma to get a good view from there?

My Setup.

I love your A/V rack though. When I get out of my mom's house and have enough saved up to get a place of my own (purchase, not rent) I plan on doing a very nice HT setup. Mine sounds very good as of right now, although I would like a better center channel speaker.

EDIT: oh, I just sa wyou got the rack from walmart for $80. very nice :)

first of all dude, those guys at AVS know their shlt. heh reading through those 133 pages really will be very beneficial to you because those guys know their stuff better than any other place i've seen on the web (as far as a public place for discussions). they helped me narrow down my TV choices when i picked up one last november. as far as the new samsung line i'm not sure, however I have a HLP series w/the HD3 chip and I couldn't be happier.

As far as the viewing angle goes, check out my pic in my post above this one. I can sit at my computer and roll my chair a little bit back and see the TV just fine. you can kind of get an idea from the pic as to the angle that is. on my DLp it seems as though changing your horizontal viewing angle doesn't affect the image brightness nearly as much as changing your vertical viewing angle (like if you watch standing up its much dimmer than watching from the side).

I agree that it is important to read through AVS Forum as they are very knowledgeable. I wish I had found that forum before purchasing my speakers but I didn't know about the website until after. They helped me make my purchase on the TV though for my budget. I would wait on some reviews about the HD4 chips before picking one up.

Good advice. AVS is definitely overwhelming at first though. I really wish there were more smaller topics, instead of the enormous 133 page " Samsung 2005 DLP HDTV Discussion --- HLRxxxxW Models" :) The posts in the beginning of that thread are from well before the TVs were on sale.

It took me a couple weeks of reading AVSforum before I felt comfortable over there. I basically knew nothing about HT when I went over there and it was like a different language for a while.

Sometimes I wish there wasn't so much info over there about great products... it makes choosing something really difficult.
