I got my first real road bike a little under a year ago, and after a month I completed a 15 mile ride that I thought was brutal and felt proud about.
But riding just became so addictive that I'd try to get off work early everyday to put some miles in, and then go for longer ones on the weekends.
Up until this ride the longest I'd ever gone was about 50 miles, and that was with a few stops and going easy through a good portion of it, and prior to that it was only about 40..so doing the full 100km (62 miles) was pretty daunting at first, but alas with the help of others around to draft with and pace with, it turned out to not be so bad.
I already can't wait until the next one.
