I post any spicy stuff I find in the fast food thread, but thought maybe a thread specifically for spicy finds would be good.
Melinda's Creamy Style Ghost Pepper Wing Sauce. Found it at target for $4.59, this is a brand I see a lot in So Cal, so maybe it's easy to find nationwide.
I'm usually disappointed when I buy something spicy, most of turns out to be barely Tabasco level. But being hopeful, I still buy just about anything I see with Habanero, Ghost Pepper or Carolina Reaper in the name. I was doubtful here because the bottles has 5/5 flames for heat level. That seems gimmicky.
Ate a spponful and was impressice at how spicy it was, it's not 5/5 unless you think Sriracha's hot. But this is probably gonna be too hot for most people. I'd say 3.5/5, but I love heat levels most people avoid. It didn't make me sweat or hiccup, but when I tasted it there was a hit of Ghost Pepper. Hababero & Cayenne. The heat's instant, it builds for 10-15 seconds and lingers for a good while. It's just not spicy, I taste garlic and some other things, the flavors quite good. It's thicker than a typical hot sauce but not as thick as I like my wing sauces to be. It has the vinegar bite and some creaminess of a wing sauce. Looking at the label, sadly it has no butter. It has Natural Butter Flavor (vegan) whatever the fuck that is. I think thrown in a pan on low and simmered with some butter this would make a really outstanding wing sauce. It would be good on wings without the butter too. It has Wing in the name, but it could be used on a lot of things. This is much tastier and way spicier than Franks. I'm currently eating it mixed in a box of janky Kraft Mac & Cheese. For shitty mac and cheese, this sure makes it pretty good.
4.5/5 - flavor
4/5 - heat
5/5 - price.
The fact I can buy this at Target or Ralphs and don't have to order it off Amazon or some website is a huge plus. Also the price is good.
