Finally the 5830 is comming Jan 25 (updated)

5830 has the same chip as 5850/5870 - just clocked down with memory and disabled ROPs - isn't it?
from ATI side this chip would cost the same - isn't it? same size and transistor count.
ether those "damaged" 5850/70 chips or ?
anyway - I don't see that ATI can price those much cheaper then 5850
and if ATI can lower this chip price for 5830 than 5850 prices could go down as well, whenever NV will deliver or not below $200 point - IMHO.

I think you mean disabled SP which of course will also bring down the number of corresponding TMUs. disabling the ROPs would make no sense.

$239 MSRP is only $10 cheaper than the 5850 MSRP. With the expected price inflation like the rest of the 5800 series you would expect to see them on Newegg for like $260. Screw that, if that's the case. This needs to be priced at $199.99 MSRP for it to be worthwhile.

Also, what's up with the Mobility Radeon 5830 only having half the bandwidth of the Mobilty Radeon 5770, according to that data sheet? It shows the 5830 using GDDR3 and the 5770 using GDDR5. I don't get it.

actually I believe $259 was the msrp of the 5850. yeah it needs to be around 200 but that isnt likely with crazy prices of the 5850 for now.
