<< For example the movie Very Bad Things was a twisted, dark, fantastic comedy. Nothing turned out well for anyone in the movie. While the movie completely kicked as$, some people just can't take it and have said it's the worst movie they ever seen. Of course they only base that on the fact that there's nothing happy about the ending. Same thing with Requiem for a Dream.

Very Bad Things wasn't bad because of the ending (I wouldn't know, couldn't make it that far through it). It was bad because every character in the movie was a fcking moron. I mean, every choice they had, they chose wrong. It was so frustrating, my gf and I were SCREAMING at the TV. We had to turn it off less than 45 minutes into it. If this is the kind of interaction you enjoy in a a film, more power to you. But personally, I just find it frustrating.
OTOH, both Training Day and Requiem were excellent films, highly deserving the critical acclaim both received.
