Nice car, pics and digicam.

Sounds like you got a great deal on both :D

How about a driver of equal ability in each car? Hell if it even comes close I'd be somewhat impressed.

Go test drive one......they are tons of fun to drive. They can definitely hold their own on twisty roads (and even come as a wagon for hauling groceries later ;)). Truly huge bang-for-the-buck if you want a sporty car and don't have tons of cash.

Nice ride... best bang for the buck for < $25k IMO. You didn't happen to check out the Evo VIII pics, did you? Find em linked here :) Time to turn this into another Evo VIII vs WRX STi thread! Let the flames begin! hehe j/k

edit:
ack, the flames have already begun! haha that's what I get for clicking on the thread, going to take a shower, and coming and replying :)

NICE car man. Congrats! Gotta love the color... my fav! :D

Those Sub's can be such workhorses. My parents should know. Their experience with their '86 GL-10 over 16 years has proved wonderful. It just chugs... and chugs... and chugs---regardless of all the accidents my father has been in, lol!

Awesome car. I love seeing a WRX on the road in person... but I've only seen two in town ever!

A lot of people don't like the looks, and at first I thought it was just okay, and the headlights were fugly, but after a bit I started to think it looked better and the bug headlights don't bother me either. I don't really care for the spoiler either, but it's ok.

yup... my dad's first car when he came to America was an '81 Subaru DL stationwagon... it ran for a good 20 years... finally pulled out of service last year =\ It's still sitting on our driveway collecting dust... used that car to learn stick on... no power steering + stickshift = hard to say the last ;)

Yo,
I love the performance of the WRX, but don't like the body. I really liked the previous generation body of the WRX.

Not sure what to do. Am considering the A4 1.8T Quattro. I don't need blistering performance, just enough to make it fun and be able to drive up the mountains to ski. Maybe the Honda CRV too. Or wait and see the rumored 2003 WRX that has a redesigned nose.

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII

Only problem is it's a Mitsubishi and they are about the worst cars ever made. I have proof if i need to provide it (like 1.3 million cars recalled in 2000-2001, from all sorts of years, and the fact that they were caught lying about customer complaints).

Show me some bad ink about the WRX and then we'll talk. But i will NEVER buy a Mitsubishi after what they did to me and millions of other customers.

It can? in the 1/4 mile or on a track? How about on a mountain road? If it can do that then I would be somewhat impressed. It's still ugly but looks aren't everything.
The Impreza is perfect for mountain roads. I read somewhere a test where an Impreza smoked a Carrera 4 on a mountain road.

[Edit] It might have been the STi.[/Edit]

yea, lots of Gen2 Eclipses have had their share of problems. Luckily my friend's '98 Eclipse GS-T with a 20g and some other goodies is still running with no problems :)

There's practically no difference between the MY02 and MY03 WRX. :( A limited number of the MY03's will come available in some new sonic yellow color, that's pretty much it. They're also rolling out in CA already, I know the Irvine dealership already has a few 03's.

divinemartyr - Congrats! :) I'm planning on getting one before the end of the year. Current car (97 Celica convertible) still has 4 months left on the loan, but I'm trying to dig up some extra cash to pay it off sooner. Once that's done it's time for me to pick up one of these puppies. :D

I have a WRX and I really really doubt an unmodded WRX could keep up with a Boxster in dry mountain roads... I think it'd well in a drag race. But once the road gets a little wet the WRX has a big advantage. Best value for a new performance car in the US, that's for sure!
