Finally got my wife's slot car track set up lastnight

My wife had some old Tyco track from when she was little and always talked about how she missed it and would like to get one set up again.

So lastnight I set it all up. She already had tons of track, but the cars/psu and controllers were all shot. I bought a Speed Racer Mattel/Tyco set off Ebay and since everything was compatible, it went together smoothly.

It's a small setup, but I only have so much space in my computer room.

Small track layout

Brings back memories for her and it's nice to see.

EDIT: PIC of the older cars and the ad she saved. Some of them were Tyco, AFX and Aurora.

Yeah, last year when the divorce was final I converted the master bedroom into MY room and set up my old AFX tracks from ~28 year ago. Cleaned out the rails with rubber eraser, lubed all my cars and replaced all the tires as the rubber had rotted. ebay is great for this stuff. Even bought some vintage cars from ebay. My recent fav is a 1972 AMC Javelin. Same one I actually owned in the 70s! Engine need some work but I am having a blast as is my teenaged son. See, divorce is good! 🙂

Well you tell me Mosh. The biggest set I ever had growing up was one of those cheap figure 8 sets ($20.-- $30.?)
She has 10 times more than I ever had

How did those work?............ Dual pins? Stronger magnets? I've seen the sets and would like to know.

Awe man, brings back memories. We had a tiny set with a policecar w/ sirens and a sports car. It was great fun, but would overheat with heavy use.

magnets, you couldn't go slow up the turn on the wall had to go full blast, it was cool
sometimes if you did it just right it would kind of swing around the turn as opposed to just following the path of the track, I believe after the wall turn you came down went under a loop and then went off a little jump, the jump was actually the hardest part of the whole track.

lol I swear to you I am going to set this up again

This can be taken totally out of context 😉

something for everybody... like... a shemale? wait, what?

ahhhh, yes, the glow in the dark railings. Now for some late-night stick-shifting, if ya know what I mean.

Nice. I used to do that as a kid in places like this. The big slot cars not the home ones. Those things were so much and went fast as hell.

Well if you do (especially if it's an older set), I would buy a cheap set by Mattel/HotWheels. They aquired Tyco some time ago and have the exact same parts. The new sets come with cars with Silicone tires instead of the old foam which can crack/harden over time.

Another thing to worry about, is that some sets today come with an actual battery pack (4C's/D's?) and no Power Supply. Make sure your old power supply works. It will be compatible.
