The price was a sweet deal and it took quite a while to find the right one. I'll be giving it some but I'll be patient so I won't stack the car.

25th Brands Hatch is where I'll give it some welly! No police and speed limits so it'll be really fun. Can't wait to see what I can do. I'll try that in 2nd gear on the track 😀

What tyres do you use? I have the OEM conti sport contact M3 ones.

Michelin Pilot Sport 2 - the best. 😉

£250 a tyre.

I like the Continental Sport Contact 2 M3 edition, although they could be better in the wet. They're around the £200+ mark for the rears and you can get them for as little as £180 for the fronts.

PS2's are supposed to be the best, but they don't say "M3" on them, and that's worth a lot more! 😉

Wow I never thought of that. I'm gonna go put tape over my license plate on my car so the millions of people on the road don't see it!

He's talking about the UK dumbass, where police cars have plate recognition cameras and the entire countryside is littered in speed cameras.

A shame that an isle which produced/produces such fine automobiles is so tyrranistic against them 😉 I kid, I kid

There's millions of other cars on the road that see your license plate in the UK too. It's just as easy to copy a plate from a car you see on the road as it is from one you see a pic of on the net. Not sure what being in a different country has to do with that.

And when was Bavaria, Germany part of the UK? I suppose I shouldn't question such things, being a dumbass and all. Oh, you must be talking about fine automobiles like the old MG and Austin Healy. 🙄

S20000 FTMFW. Big mistake getting rid of it. This is coming from a current AP2 owner.

Not sure if I could justify an M3 if I was commuting 60miles per day but I'd think f0ck it, might as well do it! Makes no finanacial sense to smash down 17-25mpg diong 60miles per day commuting but I guess it woudl be fun 😀

The engine is designed to be driven fairly hard so hence the way it revs. Definitely got to use it but I guess most drivers never take their car on to the track so never really get to take advantage of it's full power. But people like to come back and sit in a nice car and to realize that it 'could' do this or that.

It's not driving it hard that concerns me, it's starts and stops and short distances and it never warming up. Too sweet of an engine to treat it like that.

Good point. I don't go by the dynamic rev limit in the M3, it seems WAY too generous to me. I don't go over 3K rpm until the OIL is up to temp, not water. It has the gauge, so I use it. It takes about 3-4 miles or so of driving to get up to temp.

I'm an AP1 2002 owner. The S2000 is a very nice car for a driver, no doubt about that but it's barebones and no rear seats and is very torqueless if you drive it normally. It has to be kept in the correct power band but loved the gear changes, handling and throttle response 6k+.

It warms up quite quickly imo. Most cars are NEVER driven anywhere near the limits but I hope to push it as hard as I can on track days 😀

I drove the S2000 hard on track days but no where near as hard as my mate did his. He could cook his brakes but I never got to that point but I was easier on my braking then he was.

Some people over baby their cars (but then again we have dudes worried about AIDS from just kissing a chick here).

The E30 M3's limit was high and still very conservative once tested by those that pushed the limits.

Hello brother! I got a fix for your torque-less woes. Turbo or supercharge it! I am taking the car to Button Willow end of the month for the first time. Very much looking forward to it. Before this I have only tracked the Evo 9. Now I'm selling it to keep the S2k.

A pictar for you

DivideByZero and RichUK have M3's. I have an S2000 but have been banging on about the E46 M3 for ages as I've always wanted oen but the insurance was obscene.

I have an M3 as well, but it's the E92.

Congrats on the car, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The E46 is a very nice car!

oh sorry more than doubled my salary last year. E36 is out though anyway. I love the looks still, I will be in the same boat as I am now if I improve the older car. If I get into an accident (which is usually someone rearending me while I am stopped at a light), it's too hard to get the insurance company not to total it.

Plus my commute is now 30+ miles...looking for more a plusher car...but you guys know that.

2006 E46 M3 or 2010 Dodge Charger SRT8 are the two main ones. The Audi S5 I'd love to have, but they are too hard to find and when I do they are way beyond 'book value'. I could afford a $50-60k car, however; that just takes away too much from future savings. I want to retire at my same income level today.

thanks for caring :awe:

Rofl, I love how full of bullshit you are.

what do you mean? You do realize I just paid off about $40k in debt since that post instead of buying a car...well I have $4.5k left, but I just bought a $2000 in bike gear and an $800 lawn mower this month. Oh, and a $400 watch...oh and sent my wife to Japan. Damn I just can't afford a $500 or so car payment I guess, but somehow can send $3000+ a month to power pay off debt and still build my retirement.

Sorry I am a bit picky about the next car I get and have a pretty decent one already.

Not to mention I am rather busy with certifications and travel for work since the beginning of this year.

It's funny you guys revived this 1.5 year old thread...what haters.

Regardless I already decided to get my wife a car first, it's either a new GTI or A3. She liked the GTI until she saw the A3, she wants to drive them both again.

Aren't they built on the same platform?

I drove an A3 when I was in the market a few months ago, and it felt worse than a GTI. Well, not worse, just meh.

lots think this, but the A3 is longer, has better rear visibility (two extra windows) and a much nicer interior. Performance isn't much different that the GTI unless you are looking at the A3 TDI.

This is for the GTI four door vs A3 hatchback (four door also).
