Big piece of Birch 3/4 inch plywood I'm going to start getting creative with tomorrow.

Nice piece of plywood to get abusive on, but oh well.

And some stain to match the drums.

I have a few ideas going.

I'm gonna customize.

The more I think about it, might just get some eyebolt screws to screw into the wood and heavy duty tie wraps, and not put the anchors on the drum set out.

Think it is a better idea, can tie wrap the cymbal stands down easy then also.

Gonna put this over the laminate and Ty-Wrap those babies to it :)

Won't be chasing em then.

Danish Oil is a good thing.

I have a concept on making a multi tiered resonating drum platform, but it wouldn't be practical to move around, this won't either.

Might sound good in a studio though, but I guess you can do whatever you want in a studio most of the time digital with mics these days.

Would be a huge acoustic drumset.

I'd still like to see what it would sound like, but I won't go that far.

Still waiting on the Danish Oil to harden up to get this thing finished, it's still slightly tacky, maybe in more ways than one.

Have the things to do it but not rushing it.

At least the other parts that were worn have been fixed in the mean time.

A drive by cat was involved.

Still working on this one and going to modify it a bit, but it's shaping up.

Even without the ties things do not move around, still going to do that and modify the base a little.

Not like it would be something you'd move around on a regular basis, unless touring and had mounted on a pallet I guess.

I've always liked wailing on things, can finally play them again without chasing things around.

I wasn't going to stick the spikes out on the laminate flooring, and was just a finally done project :)

Now to rearrange the living room a bit again, he he.

It's going to get used a lot soon.

finally got around to cleaning my kit last night. i'll post some pics tonight if I remember. Turtle wax chrome polisher and rust remover works magic. Had some VERY minor pitting happening on some hoops and it took it right off.

MongGrel - awesome job man. :D

Nice job. Let's see, how many gigs have I been on where I would have loved to have the hi-hat & bass strapped down? :)

Blues, Rock, Country and a bit of Jazz has always been my favorite things, but I meddle around all over.

Depends on what you think of as a type of music I guess, I've done a lot of things in places you wouldn't even expect it in the past.

I hope those pictures worked. it's the first time I'm posting pics directly from my phone via tapatalk.... Otherwise this post will make half the sense it should :D

Just started cleaning them tonight. I slacked since the last post, but you get the idea. Jungle green to black fade. Also snapped a pic of the optimount system I have on both my toms. Allows for the kick drum to be 'virgin'... No holes. It's quick and easy.

Fwiw: Pearl masters custom 4-ply maple, 4 piece - 10, 12, 16, 24. Using a Ludwig acrolite snare atm. All pearl hardware (except my roc-n-soc) and zildjian cymbals.

It worked well, those are very nice :)

die cast rims ?

Wish I had those on here.

Mines old and pitted, I had enough time just fighting with the cymbals, if I tried to take all the rust pits off all the old hardware would take forever these days probably :)

I still have been putting things on them lately, but they will never be brand new I guess.

Doesn't matter sound wise I guess really, just gives it a well beaten on look I suppose, it had traveled a bit once upon a time :)

Hell, I could hit lotto tomorrow, replacing this set would be low on the list, I love this old thing.

Yep all die cast hoops. I've kept mine in soft cases since I bought them so the cleanup was very minor. As for your case, give a really fine steel wool (00, 000) a shot to make them look a bit better. Wipe the wool dust off with a rag and then shine them up with some chrome polish. I use turtle wax brand and mothers carnauba wax for the shells themself. I've never had an issue...
