I always wanted to play the drums as a kid. Decent kits are pretty expensive, so I'd have to track down something used.

On the other hand, my buddy was showing me Rocksmith the other day. Said it can teach anybody to play electric guitar. Decisions, decisions. :hmm:

worst pic ever or what

The 80s called, they want their living room back. :D

I hadn't even looked at sticks in decades.

I'll just trust the sorting has gotten a little better over time and give these a try.

I like larger diameter sticks and spent a few hours looking them over, but not on Amazon.

The wife had something she wanted to buy also though for a present, so got the free shipping there :)

go Vic Firth or go home!

Still waiting one one of the Vic Firth pairs to get here, but those Peart Promarks are pretty impressive sticks also.

A little heavier, I'm impressed so far, looks like sticks have improved a bit over the years.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Might as well upgrade everything while I'm at it and get the one bad 24" bass with the cracked Muff'l on it off the set.

As a tone super-snob, I find it odd that Bonham's sloppy, loose headed drum sound might be my favorite. No accounting for taste?

Kinda what I'm shooting for, these things are supposed to be deep.

Just tune it up enough to get the wrinkles out.

The other toms are tonal enough, I want that bass to have some deep punch.

RIP Bonzo, it's funny, I did listen to one of the remastered things on my MP3 not long ago and I could hear that bass drum squeak off the pedal that I read about later.

I was wondering what it was at first then it was in conjunction with the kick and thought that was it, read somewhere something that confirmed it.

You can hear that in some songs on quieter areas.

Now I want to get one of these and mount the Yamaha DD-65s over the middle toms, even rearranged those a bit.

Still putting things back together, and waiting on a few things.

Can't go there on the wish list.

I want it, can't justify it, unless I get with a band again.

Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor

I did rearrange the small toms on the left into a kinda of odd trio arrangement on that side and I like it a lot, have a small hanger on top that's there if I want it.

It still needs work, even without the DD-65 in there, it's sounding pretty good and waiting on a thing or two...

Gonna whip this set into shape yet.

The Bass drum loosing that pillow soon ....... I didn't get the right EMAD, it's going back, but I all ready have a nice Evans Hydraulic on there and a Remo Muff'l incoming.

I really like those Billy Cobham Vic Firth sticks about more than any of the new ones lately.

Might sell a gun or two just to get an amp these days though, I have enough of them I do not shoot and would rather have the amp.

Those little Yamaha DD-65s sound surprisingly good with a good amp hooked to them, I've done it before in the past, you almost do not need an acoustic set.

Almost....

Nic kit Mong. What are the measurements on those? I picked up a 4-ply Maple Pearl masters kit about 5 years ago with a 24" kick... It sounds fucking amazing mic'd up. I've got an old 3 piece Gretsch sitting and a shit ton of hardware sitting in the garage at my parents house. This thread is making me want to go dig it out :(

What snare are you still waiting on in the FWP thread?

I love playing the drums. Unfortunately my drummer is kind of a nazi about other people playing on his kit. I've thought about a simple electronic kit but I don't even have room for that around my place lately.

I have a Pearl 12 x 5 Picholo snare, I'm just waiting on the new heads for it to get here. The ones it came with I hate, but I stopped playing much shortly after I picked it up and never rebuilt it.

One of these little odd balls but I hate the heads on it I bought new stuff to put on the shell but the new heads and snare for it seem to be in limbo.

I think they may have even stop making this snare.

I'd even have to look at all the sizes again, I all ready fudged up on the bass, thought it was a 24 and it's a 22.

I went and looked real fast 10, 12, 13,14, 18 on the toms.

Finally got the bass fixed, all ready had a pretty nice Evans Hydraulic on there anyways and the other looked pretty much the same, so ordered a new Muff'l and stuck it on it for half the price.

The set starting to get playable again, I need the snare heads and to retune things again.

Bass is sounding pretty good atm, one problem down :)

Dig it out man, yeah Gretsch are very nice :)

I do not get enough excersize these days myself, Whiplash inspired me to drag em out again and do something in my spare time a bit, I always did love playing.

Yeah, drummers can be that way some times, for no real reason.

I'm just saying: you beat those fucking things with wooden sticks on purpose. Aside from stabbing the goddamn sticks through the heads -- which I know not to do, duh -- what kinda damage am I gonna do?

Some people get pretty emotionally attached I think, it kind of like letting someone have at it with your wife/girlfriend to some people.

Yup. It always feels wrong watching someone else play my kit.

Also a big fan of 12" snares. I have a 12x7 that I love.

Ever hear any of the jazz guys tip an 18 tom over and use as a secondary bass drum? Sounds freaking awesome and adds tons of real versatility to your sound. Standing in front of one off stage is like taking TK mind-bullets to the forehead.

Yeah, a lot of really beautiful Jazz sets use a 18 BD to begin with.

Finally got sick of the late order on the snare stuff and called Amazon up, they are refunding the other stuff.

Something got really messed up in shipping there.

I think it might work out better in the long run, I changed the batter head to a Evans HD Dry and the Snares to the 20 Strand Blasters and got a Muff'l for the poor floor tom that still needed a new one.

Bit more cash adding the 18" Muff'l but I think but I used Prime Trial finally and the share drum stuff should be here Saturday.

I used to have a parade snare at one time on this thing, similar to a TDR :p

Kinda miss it a bit, but gonna get this little guy up and running right.
