Finally called to cancel my Sprint plan and they gave me this deal...

So I finally got sick of the awful customer service and terrible reception, and called to cancel my contract (had 7 months left). I was paying:

$45/month + tax = $55/month
400 anytime minutes
Unlimited Nights & Weekends after 9pm
Unlimited PCS to PCS usage

The plan they offered (and I, like a dummy, ended up accepting... another 1-year contract to expire today, next year):

$40/month + tax = $50/month
750 anytime minutes
Unlimited Nights & Weekends after 8pm
Unlimited PCS to PCS usage

Was I had, or is that actually a decent deal?

If you currently use Sprint, feel free to post your current plan/minutes here.

EDIT: The reception isn't HORRIBLE, but it could be better.

I pay $45 (total) a month for 1000 any time / unlimited nights + weekends with T-mobile.

I think I would have switched providers just to get a good deal on a new phone.

Viper GTS

50/month for 400 anytime, unlimited night and weekend, unlimited PCS-to-PCS, unlimited Vision.

they don't have that plan anymore...their current plans SUCK

I'm still trying to figure out "was I had"...just sounds odd, is all.

For a sprint plan, that sounds pretty decent, as 750 anytime minutes is a lot for a $40 plan. (T-Mobile offers 600, i believe, at that price)

If the reciption is awful it shouldn't matter what they offer you. I had Sprint for a year and wanted to smash my phone daily; every other call would drop. I was paying 35 bucks for 650 anytime, unlimited nights/weekends (8pm), and free internet...I have nextel now and pay 54 bucks for 1200 anytime and free two-way txt and internet...love it.

depends how much u use your phone, if alot then thats decent deal.

i have a $40 att plan (did it for free phone and $100 rebate) but never really use it too much. and the quality sucks and service sucks, keep getting runnaround from csr's when i ask for monthly credits...also cause im lazy and dont follow up...

gonna cancel it in a couple months, cant wait for them to pitch me another offer and tell them to lick my nuts...

You were had in that you will still be receiving the same bad service that made you unhappy, and now you extended your contract 5 extra months before you will be let out without an early termination fee.

But that's certainly a good deal for the number of peak minutes you will get. Whether you will actually use them? Hmmmm. At least it's $5 fewer a month.

Well you reduced your monthly bill and nearly doubled your anytime minutes. Nothing wrong with that is there?

Yeah? But how good is your reception and how good are they at resolving problems that you may have?

A zillion minutes don't mean squat if you can't use them.

Doesn't matter how many minutes you have if it won't work well or at all.

sounds a lot like the deal they gave me:

750 anytime
3000 n/w starting @ 8pm
unlimited vision
all the extras
$40 a month b4 tax

best deal you can find for 40$

I have used Sprint PCS on two occasions. In my area, the first time, the quality and reception was borderline. Since I had a monthly plan with no contract, I switched providers. Now, sprint has put more towers in my home town (same area as before). Now reception is fantastic and I also notice less dead spots in other areas. So Sprint has made much progress where I live. Of course I cannot speak for every Sprint customer because I do not visit every major US city. The mobile phone argument largely depends on the region you are in.

As far as the problem resolution, that can also be explained by improved coverage. When I had Sprint the first time, I called many times complaining. Now that coverage is excellent where I live, I don't have to speak to customer service reps. And when I do call, they seem to be curteous. Is this because they upgraded their customer service reps, or because I am in a better mood when I call and they are less likely to be bitchy back to me?

If you had bad service before.. how will more minutes help your situiation?😕

You just got had. They got you down for ANOTHER 5 months with sub par service.

Couple of my friends have sprint and when they called to cancel they were offered similar deals but for much less than $50 with tax.

Sprint is worthless and yes you were foolish to sign-up for another contract.

Did you pay the $150 cancellation fee?

That US Cellular plan sounds incredible, and I was actually thinking about switching to T-Mobile.

Can I cancel now? 😕 Or will I have to pay an even higher cancellation fee? Gah.

BTW, I will be the last human in North America to be without a cell phone.

Y'all knew that cell phones gave you gas, right? Not to mention cancer, SARS, and bad breath...
😛

No I didn't have to pay a fee because my year had run out. I just had to pay for my last month and that was it. I'm pretty sure you'll have a pretty hefty cancelation fee if you try and cancel now.

Just switched my plan today...

Family Plan (2 phones)
2000 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Night (9pm) & Weekend
Unlimited PCS to PCS
Unlimited Vision
$100 a month plus tax.

Been with sprint for almost 6 months and dont have any complaints so far.

Agreed. Besides, you get much better deals by signing up fresh with a new provider. I have switched providers about three times and I have always gotten a great deal by switching.

I don't know, it looks like Dezign's new deal is better than yours. 10 bucks less a month for 350 more anytime minutes.

The only advantage to your plan is the Vision and that sucks anyways.
