There is no substitute for a real projector; whether it be DLP, LCD or 3-gun FP. A LCD screen on an overhead transparency projector is *snicker* a really poor substitute at BEST.

It would be like saying to your girlfriend: "Here; put on this Angelina Jolie mask and call me Brad!"

A poor substitute for the real thing. In fact, I would rather watch my 32" Sony Trinitron (not a flat screen...the older model) than that contraption from Tom's.

We have some blackout curtains over here too.

Bad pic ;)

I took a couple pictures one with flash and one without of my wall, but the one with the flash is a good indication of what things look like during the daytime with all the windows in here.

I guess general info on projectors, htpcs, building a screen, etc...sorry...probably a stupid question. I'd like to go cheap but good (isn't everyone????)...for computer gaming, console gaming, movies, tv, etc...I have an okay sound setup...

Yeah, AVSforum should cover most stuff.

I think Hometheaterforum is more inviting...

Projectorcentral has a nice projector database.

My 4805 is pretty budgety and I like it a lot.

Got it for $999 including a screen back in the winter.

One thing that confuses me on that is...

Resolution: 854x480

Yet it accepts 720p, 1080i, etc...

I'm assuming it downscales those resolutions?

Yes, and its faroudja scaler/de-interlacer does a very good job at it.

You can get HD LCD projectors for fairly cheap, but for DLP the reasonably prices ones are still ED (unless things have changed and I haven't noticed.... I try to stay away from the projector area of AVSforum ;))

I have some slightly blurry pics taken of CS:Source I took with my aging Canon A40 of a 720p signal scaled down to 480p.

Here's one

If only I didn't spend so much time on AT I'd be able to game on it more :p

I have to write a paper tonight too and I can't stop :(

Ok... I'm closing the window now....
