To each their own, but I prefer that type of look than 11ty bn buttons/dials/icons all over the place.

E.g.:

This looks like it has a button for every single function. I don't like it.

This is cleaner and more functional. I like it.

I agree. The BMW (Audi as well) interiors are NOT flashy bling-bling with blinkety lights and gadgets everywhere. What they are instead are very nice places to be, everything is smooth, textures are great, very solid feel, and just generally uncluttered.

I love the G35/G37 as an overall vehicle, but the hard and easily scratchable plastics everywhere are a bit of a letdown in that segment (Acura/Lexus are easily a step above in that department, while being a step down in drivetrain/handling).

Just goes to show that there's no such thing as a perfect package, there will always be highlights and weaknesses. The 335i imho has a great handling setup, great power, great tranny, just great to drive, with a nice interior. But weaknesses : expensive, a bit touchy on reliability according to some recent surveys, probably going to be $$$ to maintain past 100k miles like the turbo Audi/VWs are.

"flashy bling bling with blinkety lights and gadgets everywhere" is what a lot of people see as class, style, functionality, et cetera. not me. however, if i ran a car company, i would certainly give customers that option. even merc is putting out some tacky cars.
