Sorry to hijack the thread and actually respond to the OP instead of to the flame war that is inevitable once anyone mentions an Apple product, but here goes...

There aren't a ton of great free apps these days, except "lite" versions of full apps. However, the Pandora app is great on 3G/3GS. I'm also enjoying the lame but fun Mazefinger.

Archon is on sale! Good for nostalgic purposes.

After a mail in rebate that could be lost in the mail or apple simply refusing to honor the postage stamp. Yup. I have never and will never do MIRs. Still, $200 for a cell phone? Screw that! My phone was practically free. Practically free > 200 damn dollars!

Instead of people defending the iPhone, why not iPhone users try to convince others why they should bother upgrading to the iPhone? Sell us on it. Please, try.

There is no mail in rebate that I am aware of. I bought it for the discounted price directly from Apple and it arrived at my doorstep on the day of delivery. Thus my confusion. Maybe there's a rebate for people who purchased a 3G recently.

It was also practically free. I have unlimited everything (legit unlimited, not unlimited after a certain time of day or some shit), and my bill is nice and cheap.

Ding ding ding ding!

So basically the iPhone sucks because it does too much?

My head is about to assssplode....

And you really cant call the iPhone crap because of the network its on. I agree AT&T is a horrible company, thats why my iPhone is on Tmobile

No, it sucks because it costs a fortune for a simple device that's bloated down with a bunch of crap that only busy-body A.D.D. metrosexuals will ever use.

It's a cell phone, people. It's not an application clown car.

If $200 is too much for a bloody cell phone, what makes you think $300 is any better, regardless of features?

I personally would of purchased a G1, but Tmobile has no real cellphone network to speak of. Especially in the 3G department. So I got an iphone. I was surprised when I got better reception then I did with verizon.

Well, I think my main issue is Skype. It sucked on my WinMo phone and it sucks on the iphone. AIM always connects quickly, but Skype is a bear. Makes me wish the people I like talking to would just use AIM :(.

This is why people need to keep phone discussions in the phone forum. In OT it just sparks a bunch of BS from a bunch of fucktards that really have no idea what they're talking about.

Symbian was years ahead of other Phone OSs for a long time. Apple could still learn a thing or two from it.

I am a proud iPhone 32GB S owner and I was using Nokia E71 before. The Nokia is going to Ebay.

I find the iPhone to be a lot more useful for things I do; browsing the web, using maps, listening to music and watching media. The apps are AWESOME. Copy and paste is a lot more intuitive than Nokia.

But I must admit, I do miss Symbian's multitasking, E71's impressive battery life, and instant email alert (iPhone has 15 minutes interval as most frequent). I would see my E71 blinking before I would see new email alert on my gtalk.

that's nice. Now find all the 7-11's within 5 miles of you and get directions there. While you're there, yelp any restaurants that are nearby with a $ rating and that's currently open. Finally, while you're there, take a picture of your meal and post it to facebook. You should also check ATOT while you're at it, in case the plane takes off.

For added lulz, as I posted earlier, my iphone is fubar'ed - I took my GF's iphone, recorded a video of mine being fubar'ed, and uploaded it directly to youtube.

soooooo can your half sized iphone do all that?

No, it cannot, but I can ask people where a 7-11 is or what good restaurants are in the area. You cannot create a negative gravitational field to offset half the weight of your i-phone. Physically impossible.

Saga, you are proving your ignorance rather than their ignorance.

1) Wrong. iPhone playing music will chug along for 20 hours.
2) Apps are great, I actually agree.
3) Apps are useful -- Google Earth, Mint, Bank of America, Facebook, Maps, Weather, ... don't base your decision on the fact that you probably have five flashlight apps downloaded.
4) The original iPhone was plagued with volume issues. Remember that was their first phone, and Blackberry is roughly 20 generations ahead. The 3GS has addressed those issues. The Blackberry is already behind Apple, and has adapted their hardware and software to mimic Apple's.
5) Streaming Pandora is not a novelty, it is a legitimate feature. They sell iPhone arm straps that are unobtrusive.

$40 is not ridiculously expensive. Fuck, even $70/month for a stand alone plan is not ridiculously expensive when a Blackberry is $80/month.

Well when you pay just $20 a month for unlimited data, 200 Text messages on your Windows Mobile phone (not including minutes portion), it makes the iPhone and Blackberrys look wayyy overpriced. I'd say the worst part about the iPhone is Steve Jobs' need to control people and how his products function. When ever people make a complaint on this forum, you guys always direct them to some halfassed-hack in order to get it done and while that may seem fine and dandy, it's also a great way to brick the phone thanks to, well Steve Jobs once again (kill switch anyone?).

For those who are wondering what I'm talking about in terms of the kill switch:
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/...able-unlocked-iphones/

I pay $40/mo for blackberry with unlimited texts, data, and 700 minutes. I had the Motorola Q prior to the BB, and the BB>Q any day.

That's another reason I don't have an iPhone though, the monthly plans are way too expensive (i.e. double what I'm paying now for the same stuff).

outside of this office, VZW's reception is WAAAAAAAAY better than ATT's

however, I did not get reception with vzw in my cubicle, however I do with ATT

Thus, for me, ATT > VZW

First you break down, then you become broke.

For the record I have no jealousy/functionality issues with the iPhone, just that its monthly fees are ridiculous and far too high for me to EVER consider getting one at their current rates. Those of you who pay such an extravagant charge must have some serious disposable income, a weathly mommy/daddy, or a hole in your head you like to fill with expensive gadgets that make your e-penis go weee.

It is no more or less expensive than any smart phone.

Thus, this argument applies to black berries, winmo's, etc.
