Finally bought a PS3.

Got a nice 50" plasma in January and just now getting something to game on. Although 95% of the reason I bought it was to stream HD movies/TV to the TV...so fucking sexy. 25 Mpbs 1080p crystal clear no stutter without the hassle of changing discs or having to wait for blurays to load....sex.

Got the move bundle, didn't even buy any games yet except for whatever crap move game came with this. Recommendations? I'll probably get Madden but I don't know other than that.

I'm using PS3 Media Server which works pretty darn well, I wish the scene selection thumbnail thing would work better, but I'm sure that's just kind of how it is when you're streaming. And my most recent bluray rip -> .mkv encodes aren't loading for some reason, but the others are fine...not sure what's up with that.

Welcome to the cool side of the sun.

I recommend the following games though, you will REALLY REALLY enjoy playing these with that size screen lol.

Uncharted 1 & 2, you WILL droll over the sight of this game lol.

Bad Company 2 is always a win in HD

Mirror's Edge

METAL GEAR SOLID IS A MUST FOR ANY PS3 OWNER...sorry, had to get that out of the way.

Madden is always good 🙂

PS3 hands down crushes the 360 in entertainment( AKA B-R and Music)

Anyways, enjoy and feel free to add me if you get Bad Company

Is there any real advantage to doing that over just using PS3MS and encoding on the fly? I guess I could do it for the ones that won't work for whatever reason. Don't really feel like doubling my library size and spending the time for all of them if there's no advantage, though.

My PS3 hasn't been turned on since I finished God of War 3 a few months ago... have fun!

Seriously though, it's a good system. The only reason I've using the 360 so much is due to Netflix and Halo... and the fact that I can use my universal remote to control the system. Once Netflix goes disc-less on the PS3 I'd probably use that more.

Netflix on the 360 requires XBL Gold, so I just use it on the PS3 and keep the disc in there most of the time. I also hate the fact that the 360 will not allow you to have the same XBOX Live profile on more than one console. It makes it a real pain when every other online system in the freakin' world allows this (Steam, PS3, etc)!

I'd recommend the Ratchet and Clank games if you prefer action/platformer games.

Music? i own both but for streaming music from your PC the xbox kills the PS3 because it integrates into WMP flawlessly and its playing/playlist on the fly is much better

Ratchet & clank games are worth buying
God of war collection and GOW 3

I have no desire to have Netflix or Halo, so it made it a pretty easy choice. I agree that music is easier on the 360, but I don't care about that either.

I don't really have any expectations for games at all, any fun I have gaming on this I'll pretty much consider a bonus. I don't see myself ever playing shooters on the PS3 over the PC. I'll probably mostly stick to sports games and stuff like Ratchet and Clank or GOW3.

I havent turned on my PS3 in months. I only have 3 games, MGS4 (which sucked IMO), Resitance (boring as hell and looks like crap IMO) and FF13 (worse game ever). I primarily used it for BR but there really hasnt been anything worth getting on BR so for me the PS3 is useless. I soo wanted it to be good, great even, but it is just fail for me. I did get uncharted 1 but it constantly froze my system so many time that I returned it and was really pissed because the few levels I did get to play were awesome.

I finally bought a ps3 recently as well, and that's just to play mw2 with my friends and fam that don't own an xbox.

Haha the PS3 isn't that bad 😛. Even though I have 10x as many games for my 360, I probably use them both the same amount.

Does Uncharted 2 get incredibly stupid at the end like Uncharted 1? As soon as the zombies showed up I turned it off and haven't looked back.

I've found I can't really get into the 1st/3rd person big titles. I tried demos for darksiders, bayonetta, infamous, god of war, and uncharted. For whatever reason I wasn't really drawn into them. If you love those types of games then my recommendations probably wont apply.

I'll second Valkyria Chronicles and the Ratchet & Clank series. Mirror's Edge was mostly enjoyable as well.
Flower (a psn game) is nice and relaxing. A good game to wind down with for half an hour at the end of a long day. Very nice atmosphere.
LittleBigPlanet is probably worth a shot, but I'd see if you can play it with someone else first. I keep flip flopping on whether I like it or not. I haven't touched any user created content though.

UFC Undisputed 2010 is awesome if you have people to play it with.

I liked both Uncharted games, have yet to finish the 2nd one though.

MGS 4 was awesome!

Red Dead Redemption is cool.
