Finally bought a PS3.

#1...ignore all the M$ lovers
#2...To the idiot that said PS3 games are all 720p and scaled, look again, last time i checked, halo 3 was 640p and so are a dozen more 360 games.
#3...If you said MGS4 was bad, you either didn't know the back story and never played MGS...or you don't deserve to own a PS3. FFXIII turned out mediocre because development was fucked near the end in order to "fit in" the 360 version and because all the douche bags that bought it were expecting a remake of FFVII, everyone knew FFXIII was different from the start, yet they still bought it, and complained about it when they couldn't beat a boss because they were too stupid to set a gambit. Resistance wasn't the best game ever, but it is still very good and fun.

Ordered Madden and both Ratchet and Clank games. I really like the look of Demon's Souls, but I'll probably wait a few weeks.

This is what I was afraid of with buying a console. It doesn't seem bad, but then you buy 3 games, an extra controller, an extra move controller, and you've spent a ton.

Plus my apartment looks pretty sad with the router and modem sitting in the middle of the hallway until my 100ft network cable comes from monoprice. Hahaha.
 
if all you play is single player you don't need an extra controller or a move controller at all,
the only reason i have 2 xbox controllers is because i scammed one out of that MS live points thing a few years ago
 
If you want to wait for deals, keep an eye on SlickDeals for some sales. Dell had a PS3 controller sale a couple weeks ago where each controller was $30 a pop. I ended up picking up two! Unfortunately, their XBOX 360 controller sale was for the older black ones not the all-black ones that come with the 360 Slim 🙁.

Also, Demon's Souls was on sale for $25 only a few days ago... so keep an eye out or add notifiers for automated notification!

Amazon had it on goldbox for $20 not too long ago, though it sold out rather fast.
They're having a ps3 goldbox event...tomorrow? I think it starts around midnight (probably pst) tonight, but I could be wrong. The amazon goldbox events have generally been rather poor, but maybe OP will see something he likes at a good price. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

MGS wasn't bad but was definitely overrated. I'm not a fan of stealth games though.

Infamous is definitely worth picking up slong with the other games suggested. It's an open world superhero game.
 
I bought my PS3 recently and I have the following games.. Madden 11, GT5: Prologue, Tekken6, Fight Night Round 4..
I'll probably buy GT5, FIFA 11 and NBA 2k11.. but I mainly use it for netflix (Blu-ray). I don't really stream movies because I can do that through my TV.

Haven't learned how to link up PC to it yet, but it was definitely a worthwhile purch
 
If you like God of War style beat-em-ups, Heavenly Sword is worth a look if you can find a cheap copy.

3D Dot Game Heroes is fun if you like old school (pre-Ocarina of Time) Legend of Zelda style gameplay.

PS3 media server makes it pretty darn easy.

Hopefully some of these goldbox deals are good, although I was mostly hoping for some controllers, doesn't look like that's on there.

edit: Madden for $45 is the first lightning deal. Already bought it from Walmart for about that price, oh well.

I feel that people need to think and double check their facts before they type...As stated above. The majority of people that are 360 fanboys just blaber out crap about how the ps3 fails in every single way, yet, when you throw facts at them, the keep saying how xbl is better than psn...that's their best argument as how the 360 "owns" the ps3.

Who here has made such claims? I haven't seen anyone in this thread say that the 360 is overall better than the ps3.
 
Heavenly Sword - Get it now and enjoy!

GoW 3 and GoW Collection if you haven't played GoW 1 or 2.

Ratchet and Clank games are enjoyable platformers.

Motorstorm Pacific Rift is fun.

Heavy Rain is different if you like adventure type games.

Batman AA has some content that's a PS3 exclusive, so it's a worthy purchase.


Final Fantasy 13 sucked balls, but it sucks balls less on the PS3 since at least the cutscenes are 1080p 😉

I'm convinced modern consoles are suck in their own little special ways. Unfortunately they are the only means by which I can play certain games.
 
I have both and like both. I've had way more sony products die than MS but my PS3 is fine so far.

The only thing i like better about the 360 is xbl and Xgame chat. Everything not using online gets bought for the PS3.
 
I played MGS and thought it was garbage too. And I have played every game in the series. So, Ravenseal, am I just an idiot? The game was way overrated, and at times struggled to identify itself and what type of game it wanted to be.
 
Metal Gear has always been overrated. Luckily it isn't anywhere near the top of games you should check out.

As far as media server goes, I just turn my laptop on and the PS3 connects, no software needed. I tried using PS3 Media Server and it was terrible and really didn't add anything that Windows can't already do. To people that say Xbox is better, how? I honestly can't see it working any easier than selecting a playlist. It's like 2 clicks, how can Xbox do it easier?
