Finally a GTX 460 @ 900 core review. Beats both a gtx470 and 5870!

I've got a 5850 running mine. It's not that far of a stretch.

let me guess ............Pac-man?🙂 j/k

Thats a 5870+ in my book. 1000 core.

Elfear and Mrk6.......
DO me a favor and tell that to Groverfinding in my "How Nvidia helps keep pc gaming Alive thread".

But you did have two 5850's at one point. Did you sell one to get ready for the new AMD stuff?
I sold one of the 5850's awhile ago before the 6xxx series was even in the news just because I wasn't happy with the multi-GPU experience. So far I haven't been impressed by multi-GPU from either company, so I built a watercooled rig and will just overclock the living hell out of whatever single-GPU flagship is the current best buy. Hence why I'm really looking forward to Cayman XT (and hopefully it's a great overclocker).

Yea he's right, those of you with 1200$ 30 inch monitors don't buy a $200 gtx460.
ANyone? Ah nevermind. 🙂

I think you are misintepreting my statement to mean talking about 25x16 only, when in fact what I wrote meant that the gap grows ever-larger as you go up in resolution, from 12x10 up to 25x16. I.e., the gap is above-average in size when you reach 19x12 and widest at 25x16. 19x12 is not that uncommon of a resolution for 460GTX owners to run.

The gap is not above average in size at 1920x1080, where is your proof ?
Take any gtx 460 card reviewed at techpowerup, they list overall performance , and then individual (xx resolutions) performance. There will be some games that swing both ways, as always.

edit: In this set of results , the 5850 also appears to have more of performance gap as resolution increases VS the 5870.

FYI, 19x12 stands for 1920x1200 not 1920x1080

20% faster over all resolutions goes to 24%@19x12 goes to 37%@25x16 (768MB version)

12/15/23% faster at all/19x12/25x16 (1GB)

last time I checked, 24 is more than 20, and 15 is more than 12

It's a minor point, please don't take it out of proportion. No pun intended. 🙂

And the results I gave your were for 1920x1200, and its not above average.
The 5850 runs out of steam faster than the 5870.
The gtx 460 will definitely run out of steam faster than the gtx 470 especially with its larger memory buffer.
🙂
