Running the GUI Screen Saver is the way to go if you can't get the performance out of your computer that you need. I have always thought that something is better than nothing and I've got a couple of my TS mates running the GUI Client for the same reasons you state. The biggest drawback with the GUI Client (besides slower Avg WU times) is that it does not have "caching". 😉

cbuchach, there, unfortunately, is a known problem with the Offline folders in Outlook and Seti/ECCp (and maybe some others), as they run at priority 4 rather than the lowest of 1, and the Offline folders run at a lower priority than the DC projects.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with SetiHide, it is a program to run the CLI, and one useful feature is outlined in the Manual

6.1.3 The "halt_if_running.txt" file
Enter path and filename of any application that is supposed to pause the SETI client. Recommended for disk defraggers, scan disk utilities or even taskmgr.exe on NT... ;-)
e.g.:
c:\windows\defrag.exe
c:\windows\scandskw.exe

So, you could have the best of both worlds with this. Have the ability to use the CLI client which is much faster, and any programs that cause slowdown can be added to the halt_if_running.txt file and the CLI will stop when these programs are open 🙂

Confused

Nice! 🙂 ,that should be in our FAQ's for SETI!

Doesn't stop you installing SETIQ though😉

Cool, I thought this was my own personal probelm with Outlook, it is nice to others have had the same issues. I might try the Seti Hide with the halt commands. Thanks for the info guys.
