Its about time! 😛 768 down, 128 up.. not bad... filling th e HDD as we speak.. and time for some On-line gaming! 😛

I just got my dsl line too. Yeeehaaaa, I wanted to D/l 3dmark2001 but page is down, I'm just lookin for anything to download tonight. I was getting a measly 4kb/sec on my 56k, hahaha....long gone days.

I have cable here in Brazil, but higher speeds than 256k up/down costs so much it isn't worth the price. I pay US$ 43.00 for my access. I dream of having the ISP options you have in the US.

here in UK it costs £33/m for ASDL [Blueyonder.co.uk for the brit's info], ok thats a whopping 512k but $46 (ish) per month, and that really is the cheapest and got to add costs (about half again) for a normal phone line on top of that. BT ASDL charge £40/m ($56/m).... price diff between USA & UK not as bad as i thought but thats about the only options, i wish the cost was maths based and so could pay just £9/m for 128k, THAT i could afford.

USD$30=UKP£21 for a cable modem... i proly could manage that but cant get it 🙁

not that the damned landlord would allow it anyhow....

I think I pay $49.95 for 1.5Mbps down/256kbps up from Bellsouth. I got it because cable wasn't available last year..but now it is...and I'm wondering if switching would be a good idea....

<< So do you mean you don't have to pay for every megabyte? >>

I don't know of any ISP in the US that charges per megabyte. You pay more for a faster connection but not for the actual amount you download, only thing I know of even close to that is third party newsgroup providers.

i have dsl 768 dn and 128 up but i usually only see 620down and 68 up i think i should call my provider but as long as im running i can live with it for now

oh btw dsl is not a good thing to have (your on your knees all the time) 😉

but digital subscriber line is pretty cool.

on my cable i get 2mbit down and 329k up. much faster then crappy dsl services in NY.

I use TXU and I get 1288 dwn and 208 up for $39.00 a month. They do knock me off sometimes but overall I have been satisfied with their service. 😀 I would rather sit in a barrel and smell an old ladies farts before I would go back to dial up.

Haha, i a very pleased now, i am getting great speed.. they just built this new server/router....and i am only 1 mile away..... so i am getting great pings <75

Mine doesn't charge per megabyte but there is a cap on data transfer each month of 2.5 gig. I pay 49 a month for that at 1 mbit up and down speeds. It costs 10 dollars a gig after 2.5 gig. I haven't ever gone over the limit though not really into downloading anything other than the odd demo.

They charge you per mb??? That's terrible! I'm on a cable connection that varies between 1.6-2.2Mbps down and is 300K up, no extra charges, for $40/month.

heh lucky bastards..

where I live DSL and cable are about as expensive as a second phone line and ISP (56k), actually often less..

but I can't get it.. I've been out of range for 3 years, I'll still be out of range until I move or something..

funny though, the cable company that my friend was using went bankrupt, and the competing company moved in. first thing they did was to increase the download/upload cap speeds! lol, my friend gets 4.5 mb down, and 768 up or something insane like that..
