Do those thousands control millions, or do those millions allow the thousands to cause harm?

People of a civilization need to be responsible for the monsters they create. That they provide harbor for. That bring war and violence to their door. Egypt is a good example of a military desperately trying to hang on to some bit of sanity in the face of fundamentalists. Should the Egyptian military lose that battle, we would be able add Egypt to the list of failed states that are now terrorist breeding grounds.

If anything... the Arab spring has resulted in more Afghanistan's than anything else. The fears of terror one nation provoked in 2001 should be felt five times as much with today's world.

You know... I never considered our "allies" or interests over there. Mostly because my mind jumped straight to our enemies and I didn't realize the OP was speaking of the entire Middle East.

This subject is conflated by a desire to see ISIS (themselves genocidal) wiped off the map. Even then, I've a more practical military plan of action where we'd cut them up into tiny pieces and feed them to the locals. This is the part where I wish the poll was public - because even with my narrow focus I was not approving of carpet bombing to see the job done.

Broadening that context to include an entire reigion of the planet, I share the sentiment others have expressed here. In no gentler terms than "no !@#$ing way". A "final solition to Islam"? I guess I didn't take that literally.
