People should play FF6 and FF7 now that both have really poor graphics. FF7's storyline seems convoluted and the characters have no personality.

Some people played FF6 when it was new and it had dazzling 2D graphics for the era. Most, unfortunately, played it after they had already played FF7 and 8, and 6 was re-released for the PSX.

Most complaints I see from the FF7 fans about FF6 are "the graphics are horrible, I can't get into an RPG that looks like crap." Of course, now that FF7 looks like crap, the FF7 fanboys talk about the storyline. Which has characters without personality, and a rushed feeling in which loose threads in the story are tied up too rapidly.

FF6 is much more colorful and animated. Though, Chrono Trigger is even better if you want a solid storyline that can play on your emotions without a bunch of "shocker" plot revelations that FF7 has.

FF7...

anyways the trailer makes the game look like crap.

FF7 was terrible. Complete and utter junk.
FF6 was the peak. FF needs to die now.
 FF6 had some really great stuff: touching cutscenes, top-notch music, sweet character development, multiple plot lines (after the Returner's hideout). But... the WoR was so much slower and seemed like an excuse for doing more training.

FF7 was a bit slow in the middle (2nd continent or so), but it didn't drag as badly as the WoR did. And some fine music, captivating storyline, emotional involvement, and lots of food for thought made up for all that :)

I won't deny that WoR was a bit slow, but there is much that you can convey with 2d 16x16 blocks that you completely lose with 3d. Those little short, fat characters just had so much more emotion, even though they only had like... 16 poses.

Kafka was a prolific German language writer of the early 20th century. The villian from FFVI is named Kefka.

So sue me for mixing up a vowel, besides not having played the fucking game in 10 years.

I agree FF4 and FF6 were godly, FF7 sucked, just flashy fx but a horrid story and bad gameplay

FF9 was better then 7, 8 royally sucked ass, its prob the worst of them all

ff6 (US3) > FF4 > ffX = FF9 = FF 1-3,5 > FFx2 > FF7 > FF8

Best. Bad guy. Ever.

No motives, no unhappy childhood, no turning point trauma, no conflict.

Just pure evil. And he loves it.

That game had some incredible art direction. Some sort of 'Enlightment steampunk', very inspired. Some of the sprites used in that game are some of the best, if not the best, ever to be created for 2D gaming. And I agree with EyeMWing: Terra's sprite was more expresive and likable than Cloud's hyperactive, annoying, ADD ridden "..."

And the music during that fight was awesome.

I clasify them almost the same, but I put IX over X. X wasn't as bad as VII and VIII but I like IX better.

No, I started with FF3 and loved it. I don't know how you FF7 haters can call it crap, the story, characters, magic system, weapons, music, emotions.. all were magnified by x10 over FF3. The 2 after it were very dissapointing though.

There's a strong hatred toward FF7, it probably stems from being annoyed by too many rabid FF7 fanboys. I think FF7 is a fine console RPG, not the best IMHO but certainly among the best.

Then you also have those people that hate FFVII strictly because it was the most popular. Kinda like how people will turn on an artist that puts out a pretty good, but more mainstream CD, and the fans turn on them.

FF 1-3 didn't play (Just can't stand the uber old graphics and gameplay)

FF 4 - played for 15 minutes. Didn't get into the story much.

FF5 - not too bad. Music wasn't that horrible (traditional "Crystal" theme for FF). The class system was okay, except it took too long to make kick-ass characters. Story was typical cliche setting, but it really wasn't back then.

FF6 - awesome RPG. Story and music was definitely top-notch. Combat system was alright. Definitely had the best-bad guy evar! Kefka made Hitler look nice. That's how evil this guy was. Pure unadulterated evil. I weep for his mom, if he had one.

FF7 - another awesome RPG. You really can't compare 6 to 7, as they're a bit apples and oranges. I loved the 7's artwork more than 6, simply because it had more "modern" look of it. 6's artwork was way too "fantasy" like. Sephiroth wasn't as cool as Kefka, but he's my most hated villian. (Guess why?). The protaganist role (Cloud) sucked. Somehow, almost all of the FF's protaganist seems like a drone after FF6. However, Aeris, is one of the best supporting character created in RPG. As far as music, it was definitely a bit different from older FF's. Combat system was still the same, with little bit more of a tweak.

FF8 - didn't play, because the storyline sounded crap.

FF9 - watched my sis play. Helped her out in puzzles and hard boss fight. Except, the bosses at the later half of the game was insanely easy. The last 10 bosses had the same amont of HP....WTF?! It was okay RPG, severly cliched.

FF10 - same as FF9. Helped out my sis. A bit of artwork change. They themed it to landscape/culture of SE Asia and its islands. Story wasn't that great, but I guess they're running outta ideas. Too much "romance crap". Combat system is craptacularly n00bified. It actually shows you a list of "who's turn is it" for next 8-10 turns. However, the n00b combat system was balanced out by some of the hardest mid-game bosses evar.

FF10-2 - just watched my sis play... Umm.. I dunno what Squaresoft was thinking, but that game is not meant for guys... The story, the game setting was suited more for teenage girls. Combat system moved into "real-time" and insanely convluted/annoying "dressphere" system. Terrible sequel.

I really hope Squaresoft makes a good RPG for 12.
