People should play FF6 and FF7 now that both have really poor graphics. FF7's storyline seems convoluted and the characters have no personality.
Some people played FF6 when it was new and it had dazzling 2D graphics for the era. Most, unfortunately, played it after they had already played FF7 and 8, and 6 was re-released for the PSX.
Most complaints I see from the FF7 fans about FF6 are "the graphics are horrible, I can't get into an RPG that looks like crap." Of course, now that FF7 looks like crap, the FF7 fanboys talk about the storyline. Which has characters without personality, and a rushed feeling in which loose threads in the story are tied up too rapidly.
FF6 is much more colorful and animated. Though, Chrono Trigger is even better if you want a solid storyline that can play on your emotions without a bunch of "shocker" plot revelations that FF7 has.
