No. Just your regular run of the mill lobotomized single player next gen Final Fantasy.
Now with 100% more afeminated spikey haired protagonists with a clichéd pathos and a blurry yet predictable backstory.
Oh, and that guy you think he is the bad guy? Well! Prepare for the shocking plot twist! He's NOT the real badguy!
Those Final Fantasy games. They are so deep. No wonder Aerith's death is still being mourned.

Though I respect other's opinions, of course, I also believe that FFVII is so highly regarded because most people never played FFI-VI.
FFVII is like Tic-tac-toe for chimpanzees compared to FFVI.
As weird as this may sound, Square Soft 'sold out' with FFVII.
It's like people saying Metallica's Black Album is their best, when they never listened to Master of Puppets.

Most likely it will die after 12. Square isn't what it used to be, so many of the great pioneers of the early FF games have moved on.

No, I started with FF3 and loved it. I don't know how you FF7 haters can call it crap, the story, characters, magic system, weapons, music, emotions.. all were magnified by x10 over FF3. The 2 after it were very dissapointing though.
I've played (or attempted to play) every FF from I to X. I-III are garbage. IV isn't exactly garbage, just poorly written, and sort of goofy thanks to the unsophisticated music of Uematsu at that point. V was really garbage, completely conventional tripe. VI was great. VII-IX were great. X was... fine. Of course, chances are that the first FF you played will be your favorite, no matter what. For me that was VII.
However, let's just stand back and acknowledge that FF Tactics was better than all of them.

Although FFVII wasn't nearly the best RPG or FF game for that matter, I thouroughly enjoyed it.
