At the very end, there are two people in the doorwar. I assume the woman is Jenova, his mother, but who's the man? I don't recognize him, and it's been years since I played the game.

For the record:

Aeris and Zack. Aeris is the flower girl from the game. She is part of the party and is killed by Sephiroth. When cloud has the little out of body experience things, she is the one that he's back to back with.

Zack is pretty much her boyfriend. At one point in the game, it questions Cloud's history and whether was the one who was fighting along side Sephiroth, but we later find out that he wasn't, and was projecting Zack's memories as his own.

If you rented it, watch the bonus disc. There is a feature on there that shows all of the key scenes from the game that help you understand the movie. It's not nearly as moving as playing through and building a love for the characters, but it can help clear things up.

You're talking about the normally animated short, right?

Actually, it mostly shows actual content from the game... blue dialot boxes and all.

My frav scene has to be at the start of the 3rd disk. When the 3 weapons are sent flying out of the Crater.

Most people who are ff fans would probably be intersted in seeing it. Enough so that you will want to watch it on dvd. If you arent a fan a lot of the things in the game wont make sense. I would watch it just to see our cgi breakthroughs even if i had never heard of ff.

 There's an Advent Children 2 in the works? I doubt it. I can't find anything anywhere that says that AC2 is even in the works

I enjoyed the animation. But I too thought the movie was a little shabby.
The story didn't seem well thought out, the characters seemed to have shallow personalities, the directing of the scenes seemed a little weird at times.. And even as an old ff7 fan it was hard to keep up with some of the things in the movie.

I watched a subtitled version in Japanese and then when it was out on video in English I rented it. I liked the subtitled better.. it seemed like it made more sense.. the translation into English seemed better. For some reason that usually is the case.

It was worth the watch. It's nice to see one of my all time favorite games brought back to life again.

Oh yeah, and for some reason the fight with Bahumut reminded me of power rangers. I couldn't help but laugh at the thought.

You are mixing FFVIII with FFVII in FFVIII you have the Teacher who also wears a pink outfit in your party.

You are thinking of Quistis Trepe, I just read her bio she is supposed to be 18?! and she is teaching 17 year olds..... right..

Y'know what else I find odd? I read the UT2004 Bios and 2 of the characters, I can't remember their names now, but according to that they were supposedly high school sweethearts, but the guy is like 13 years older than the girl. Dude must have been a Super Super Super Senior.
