The interesting part was that the judges that had the Russians ahead were all current or former Communist countries (China, Russia, Ukraine, Poland), and a Socialist one (France). Meanwhile, the four that had the Canadians ahead were the four judges from the most capitalist countries (Germany, US, Canada, Japan). >>

Hmm, really? I didn't see the scores themselves, but a few minutes after the competition ended, NBC showed the ordinals in a graphic. And that graphic definitely said "1" for the Canadians from the US judge, and "2" for the Russians from the same judge.
