Fight over Nutella samples at Costco

I have doubled up on my sample only once at Costco, IIRC. It was that good, but other than that I stick to my principle of one sample only.

Dickish-looking probably-upper-middle class white guy. He'll see a year, tops.

EDIT: Also, I don't remember ever seeing fighting or trash hogging Costco samples, but I was 12 years old the last time I went with my mom to a Costco, and it was in an affluent part of San Diego.

The best solution here is simply to avoid going on weekends.
Truth. I try to go during the sweet spot between when all of the small business people and grandparents are there and the start of the evening rush. That's a beautiful, serene window from about 2-4PM.

I think they should pull the plug on the samples if this type of crap keeps happening.
You are not on their board of directors.

I too have seen the kids run from station to station trying to suck up as much as they can.
I've never seen anything like that and I've been a member for almost 20 years, probably.

The funny thing about this is that it was nutella on ego waffles. Who the hell does not know what nutella and egos taste like?
I do not. I would try it. I've yet to see Nutella samples at Costco.

Every Costco I've ever been to has been full of nothing but rude and inconsiderate people. They have zero problem leaving their huge ass pallet shopping cart thing directly in the middle of isles while they go Russel around for what they want. It's probably the most unpleasant, crowded shopping experience I've had at any store. And I shop at Walmart. And then you have families who take their 7 kids there on Sunday for no other reason then so they can "feed" them with the "free samples"

The only surprising thing about this story is it's the 1st time I've heard of it happening. This should be a weekly occurrence with how the greedy ass people in there act over the samples. I've seen plenty of people take 3 or 4 at once because they don't want to be fair and have to wait in line 3 more times.

Umm, that's a problem at most supermarkets. Not sure if it is a Costco thing.

Except markets have shopping carts, Costco has GINORMOUS pallet loader thingies. At a Krogers I can manavure around a shopping cart, or easily move it to the side. a Costco pallet full of cases of soda I can't do the same shit. Also every Costco I've been to was infinitely more crowded then any other store I go to. It's like fucking Disneyland. And if you go on Sunday you have about 500 kids who were brought there by their parents for the sole purpose to eat free samples so they don't have to feed them at home. And they generally let the kids wander around like they own the place.

Simple solution. Buy a freaking jar of Nutella. You can find out how it tastes on all sorts of things.
You know, I've been tempted to buy a jar of Nutella at Costco many times. I think they actually come in pairs. I think I've had some sometime, somewhere. I've actually made my own from roasted hazelnuts and chocolate a few times. I can't justify buying two jars of the stuff. Too unhealthy, and I'm afraid it would raid my diet if you know what I mean.

What I said was, I do not know what the combination of Nutella and an eggo waffle would be like. That's a little different. I'd like to taste it, yeah, but I'm not willing to buy two jars of the stuff in order to do that. What I do buy at Costco when they are on sale around November is the chocolate Lindt truffles. I buy a years supply! I love those suckers, but limit consumption to one/day.

You don't have to buy it at Costco, a little goes a long way and two jars is way more than I need. A single 13oz jar is like $3 at a supermarket if you catch it on sale. I don't put it on waffles, but a little dab is great on a toasted bagel or English muffin. A little Nutella with a dab of raspberry jam is even better.

Uhh, Gharabighi is white? Maybe Indian. Regardless, he looks like a dickscarf who needs a felony on his record so he can never get a real job.

We have a Sams. I avoid the samples because they are usually shit. I just get a hot dog and a piece of pizza. Screw samples! Yeah, I'm gonna buy that. NOT!

He's apparently Armenian and looks/dresses white. I'm sure he's a good Christian lad as well. Close enough for the judge not to care.

the guy was a thug who was arrested just a few weeks prior and has an open spousal abuse case or someshit - sounds like a real gem.

The best part about all this? Max penalty for his case is something like 11 years. FOR NUTELLA WAFFLES YOU FUCKING MORON.

+1

Where the hell do you and the other posters in this thread live that the shoppers in your Costco behave this way? I've never seen any rudeness or anyone taking more than one in mine, and I generally scarf up from most of the sample stations.

While not a general occurrence I am not surprised to see people come up and take 4 samples while other people are waiting. Ostensibly its for their family but often the family is no where in sight. That being said the far more common occurrence at my Costco is to see groups of Mom, Dad, the four kids and grandma and grandpa swoop in and clean out the entire tray of fresh samples in half a second.

And the whole "sample this then buy a box of it" thing works, at least with me. Over the years, there have been plenty of tasty little suckers that I've liked enough to purchase that I probably wouldn't have considered otherwise.

That has pretty much been my experience as well. We don't actually have a Costco anywhere near where I live but we do have Sam's Club. They also have multiple sample stations around the food area of the store. Half the time I take free samples just because it seems like nobody else will and I feel a little sorry for the people working the stations. I have never seen any of the rude behavior described here at the sample stations, and I live in an area with a fairly depressed economy.

nutella goes well on crepes. i don't keep that stuff around though. usually only get it when i'm at a restaurant. that stuff is addicting

from the title, i was willing to wager money it was Chinese people. 🙁

But it was Burbank and not Alhambra or City of Industry.

I go to the City of Industry Costco.

There's a LOT of Chinese people there; many of them recent immigrants. They will descend on free samples like a shameless plague of locusts. They don't seem to believe in waiting in lines or limits of any kind. It's reminiscent of this:

However, they are never violent.

People go nuts over free anything. Something that isn't really worth 10 cents objectively suddenly becomes worth fighting over when it's free. I don't understand it.

At the Costco I usually go to the people are well behaved. Rarely do they take more than one and when doing so you can usually readily see the extra(s) are for companions, kids. Everyone respects the first come, first served natural protocol. As a rule everyone's pretty respectful. Costco is one of my favorite shopping stops. I always bring a list and seldom vary from it. Occasionally I find something extra for my cart, I'm wearing a down vest I snagged there for $18 a few weeks ago.

This has been my experience as well.
