First sorry if repost, searched but could not find anything

A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with punching a 78-year-old shopper in the face after the victim protested about how many samples the man had taken at a Nutella waffle tasting station at a Costco in Burbank, police said.

Derrick Gharabighi, of Burbank, has been charged with felony elder abuse and personal infliction of great bodily injury against a person over 70 years of age, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
The suspect is accused of striking a man in the face Sunday morning when the man told him he shouldn't take so many waffles after the alleged assailant took multiple samples off the table at the Costco at 1051 West Burbank Boulevard, officials said.

The victim suffered a cut above his left eye and swelling around his face and was hospitalized, officials said.

One news source said that the 24 year old took all the remaining samples in front of several people who were waiting for one. I am surprised he wasn't the one beaten up in this case.

It would really suck if Costco ended free samples over this. Costco allows you to have as many samples you want but take 1, let others get theirs then if there is more left over then go back for more. Is this basic common courtesy too hard for people today?:colbert:

Every Costco I've ever been to has been full of nothing but rude and inconsiderate people. They have zero problem leaving their huge ass pallet shopping cart thing directly in the middle of isles while they go Russel around for what they want. It's probably the most unpleasant, crowded shopping experience I've had at any store. And I shop at Walmart. And then you have families who take their 7 kids there on Sunday for no other reason then so they can "feed" them with the "free samples"

The only surprising thing about this story is it's the 1st time I've heard of it happening. This should be a weekly occurrence with how the greedy ass people in there act over the samples. I've seen plenty of people take 3 or 4 at once because they don't want to be fair and have to wait in line 3 more times.

the guy was a thug who was arrested just a few weeks prior and has an open spousal abuse case or someshit - sounds like a real gem.

The best part about all this? Max penalty for his case is something like 11 years. FOR NUTELLA WAFFLES YOU FUCKING MORON.

I think they should pull the plug on the samples if this type of crap keeps happening.

I too have seen the kids run from station to station trying to suck up as much as they can.

The funny thing about this is that it was nutella on ego waffles. Who the hell does not know what nutella and egos taste like?

I would give him the full 11 years if I were the judge. If you think it is ok to assault anyone over free samples you are nothing but a low life thug.

look at this dumbass, has been in jail since Sunday cuz of fucking nutella waffles.

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — A 24-year-old man was charged Tuesday with elder abuse for allegedly punching a 78-year-old man in the face over Nutella waffle samples at Costco.

Derrick Gharabighi of Burbank is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on charges of felony elder abuse and personal infliction of great bodily injury against a person over 70, Burbank police spokesman Sgt. Claudio Losacco said.

Gharabighi remains in custody on $50,000 bail.

Burbank police officers were sent out to Costco, 1051 W. Burbank Boulevard, Sunday at about 10:50 a.m. and met with the victim, who had suffered a significant cut and swelling to his left eye, Losacco said. He told officers he was reaching for a Nutella waffle sample when another man – later identified as Gharabighi — took several samples off the table.

When the 78-year-old man told Gharabighi he wanted a sample and that he shouldn’t take so many, Gharabighi punched him in the face, Losacco said.

Police say there is no video footage of the incident and Gharabighi’s booking photo will not be released. The victim and his family are not interested in speaking about the incident, Losacco said.

If convicted as charged, Gharabighi faces a possible maximum sentence of more than 11 years in state prison.

Where the hell do you and the other posters in this thread live that the shoppers in your Costco behave this way? I've never seen any rudeness or anyone taking more than one in mine, and I generally scarf up from most of the sample stations.

And the whole "sample this then buy a box of it" thing works, at least with me. Over the years, there have been plenty of tasty little suckers that I've liked enough to purchase that I probably wouldn't have considered otherwise.

The rude ones you can deal with; bark loud enough and they usually tuck their tails between their legs.

The brainless zombie Costco shoppers are the worst. They seem to be drained of life and shuffle along. Stop in the middle of an intersection (parking lot and store). Take 4 times as long to unload their items at the cashier. Take twice as long to get their money out. Ask what the price is for something and then ask if they can get 11 & 1/2 more with a coupon that expired a year ago. Try to buy a portion of a packed item.

It's insane.

If you live in the hood, you experience the thug life.

Why location location location is very important when it comes to real estate.

Looks like the type of douche to punch an old man over samples. Im indifferent on samples at Costco. I rarely try them. And it is annoying how they clog up the aisles with lines of people trying to get a cracker. So if they stopped the practice. I wouldnt lose any sleep over it. But it would also be pretty silly to stop the practice over one incident.

Don't have a Costo anywhere close but have a Sam's Club.

I would love it if they closed down the grazing stations for good.. no more clogged aisles with the fat asses in the powered carts treating it like the buffet at Golden Corral.

The worst problem we have at Costco here is people stopping in the middle of a crowded aisle to chat with somebody they recognize. That, and general cluelessness when navigating the oversized carts.

The best solution here is simply to avoid going on weekends.
