the bullet flies out of his jaw, brad pitt dies...Didn't make sense... Brad pitt should be alive...

Are you serious?

Pitt was a second personality. He wasn't real. By shooting himself, and doing it incorrectly, he killed his second personality (brad pitt) but he, himself, lived. 😕

if he lived, how the **** did brad die? HELLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOO?!?!
Christ...are you an idiot?

If he made brad up in his head, why couldn't he kill him by shooting himself? Maybe norton thought that shooting himself where he did killed the part his other personality occupied. I think you are just trying to troll now. So i'll quit feeding into your idiocy.

lol, no, not troll, If he lived, his other personality should have been like...'wait a minute, he's not dead therefore i'm not dead...
His other personality doesn't control him. Norton controls the personality. It really isn't that hard. See the post above yours as well. It's symbolism more than anything.

anyone?

he believes he is killing himself. this kills brad pitt. did you not see my post. because they are both the same person, him believing that the bullet is going to kill him is enough to kill brad.

did you think that up? Brad could come back again then.
I'm convinced you're trolling but by your logic every bruise either one got during the film would have to show up on the other every time. Brad Pitt would have had to lose a tooth at the same time, etc.

the bullet could've flown out of Pitt's shlong. It doesn't matter since he never existed in the first place. The suicide/killing was symbolic.

Here is my take on it... Norton doesn't know what is going through Pitt's head, and likewise Pitt doesn't know what is going through Norton's head. They are split personalities, but they don't have complete access to one another's thoughts. Norton bluffed Pitt's character when he shot himself in the cheek.

At the time of the shooting, Pitt's character existed in Norton's mind only, not in physical reality. Norton had the gun and was imagining Pitt standing and talking to him. Remember, Norton is the real person. Pitt is the alternate personality, but Norton always holds the gun, even if he is imagining Pitt sticking the gun in his mouth or beating the piss out of him, Norton is the one doing all of this to himself.

So, when he blows a hole in his cheek, the Pitt personality *believes* that Norton is committing suicide, and as a result, the personality "dies".

I always thought that Tyler Durden was a little bit "off kilter' from Ed Norton's character. Therefore, they are not totally "lined up" correctly. I.E., a bullet wound through Ed Norton's jaw would have been through Tyler Durden's head.

read the book. or any of palahnuik's(sp?) other twisted novels. they are highly entertaining.

i heard that the movie doesnt follow the book's ending and that the ending is very comical?

The movie does not follow the book's ending.

SPOILER WARNING:

In the book the buildings don't blow up. Norton's character pulls the trigger and blows out his cheek. We don't know if Tyler (Pitt) dies in the book or not.
