Because fighting happens almost every game in the NHL and they LET them fight (referee comes in a few minutes). It's part of hockey so its excepted. It's not part of the NBA.

what a punk

Mello getting his throat wrapped

Smith getting a nice hug

yah he is a complete punk  forget their players who were just pissed for getting smoked.

Melo is a punk. If he wanted to fight back for something, that doesn't make him a punk. What makes him a punk is the hit and run move, he should have stuck around and accepted the consequences for his actions.

That picture of Melo is completely out of context. If you watch the video, Jeffries hand is on him for 1/2 a second at best. Jeffries is trying to pull Melo back, and in one of his many attempts to back him off his hand runs across his neck. Watch the video though, because it doesn't sit there at all.

With each team forced to put five new players on the floor, Denver finished up the win and ended a two-game losing streak. Marcus Camby had 24 points and nine rebounds, and Andre Miller added 12 points and 10 assists for the Nuggets.

Man, sports writers suck. In their effort to not sound redudant, they use the same alternate phrases over and over again - but in this case the wording implies that Miller scored 12 points in a minute and 15 seconds.

not really. A new sentence was started. It this its pretty normal and understandable what he said. Plus, the added was late in the sentence...well after the "had" from marcus camby. Clearly, miller added to what camby did. And the sentence doesnt really read that camby had that many points in that short period.

You've been reading too many articles written by retarded sports writers. This was a separate paragraph at the end of the article that started with a sentence saying each team had to put five new players on the floor, followed by an entirely unrelated sentence. It's horrible writing.

I didn't have a problem reading it like you did. Note that English is my first language.

I just saw Isiah Thomas and Nate Robinson post game clips on ESPN. They both answered questions about the fight by saying something about Denver having a big lead late and leaving their star players in, and how this is "wrong". Thomas also said something about JR Smith doing a fancy dunk, and Mardy wasn't going to let him do that in front of the NY fans again.

So, both the coach and Robinson have a problem with Denver leaving their stars in, therefore the hard foul was justified.......... and therefore the fight is not their fault.

Talk about no accountability. Hey NY, it's your job to put a competitive team on the court. It isn't Denver's job to back off once the get a lead. If a team gets a big lead and leaves their stars in, you don't get a free pass to commit flagrant fouls. The fact that the Knicks think they were right to commit a flagrant foul is pathetic. Worse, Robinson is angry enough to start a fight b/c Smith is pissed about being fouled like that. Of course he's pissed, he just had a guy jump on his back while he was in the air.

Very true. I'm surprised they try to use that a justification.

English may be your first language, but it's not clear from your post whether you agree with me or disagree with me (and frankly I don't care, but I think that's kind of ironic).

If this post confuses you, feel free to PM me. It was not my intention to derail this thread with my comment about sports writers sucking in general.

No. kicked out of the game maybe. But thats just a hard foul. The pic looks bad, but the live motion doesnt look nearly as bad.

Isiah has fallen a long way from his Pistons days. You don't think he ever tried to get his teams to soften up on opponents back then.

Just cause he runs away from getting mauled by their entire team doesn't mean he couldn't smash you into the ground little boy.

I am just amazed that he made that comment.

The idea of a professional sports team ever giving up and then their team supporters going along with it as not only a victim thing, but supporting that attitude!? So many Knicks fans spent good money to watch their team give it all tonight and none of them are mad about this?

Atheletes are supposed to give 110%.. now you have Isiah saying it's okay to just give up and then at the same time say since they gave up the Nuggets should have also!?

NY fans better hope he is just lying to go for the victim cop out... cause if not that losing giveup attitude will never get a winning team.

one of my favorite NHL fights, Roy Vs. Vernon. :D

You can't beat the fight(s) that set a seemingly impossible record for penalty minutes and singlehandedly changed the rules of hockey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPafCIOw2Q4

man i miss the old NHL. :brokenheart:

Nate Robinson had the stupidest quote:

"From what they did, keeping their guys on the court, I knew a foul was going to come. It was a good, clean, hard foul, and after that things went down from there," Robinson said. "I've never seen a team up 20 keep their starters in. They wanted to embarrass us, and it was a slap in the face to us as a team and a franchise."

WELL MAYBE IF YOU DIDN'T PLAY LIKE SH!T THE WHOLE GAME, YOU WOULDN'T BE GETTING EMBARASSED LIKE THAT. DIDJA THINK OF THAT?
