...wtf?
Yeah, really. If that's the case, you're driving too dangerously to begin with.
17 percent don't signal because when they do, they forget to turn off the blinker
wtf? SO???? its not like its going to drain your battery or something. depending on why you need to signal, it should shut off automatically!
Agreed. If you're just changing lanes, 1) If your hands are in the proper position to begin with, the signal lever is right by your hand, and since you'll be turning the wheel only slightly to change lanes, your hand can remain on the lever until the lane change is finished, at which point you let go.
11 percent say signaling is unimportant
how unimportant will it be when someone rear-ends them because they didn't know they were turning?
Or when someone crosses into your path because they didn't know you were turning. Head-on is even less fun than rear-ending.
8 percent say they don't signal because other drivers don't
these must be the same people who jump off bridges because everyone else does it or they were the kids who were spoiled brats and got what they wanted because Timmy's dad got him that toy
Agreed. Most people don't go for doctorals in quantum physics either. Does that mean that no one should do it?
Signalling is about communication. When you're driving 2+ tons of metal, with other blocks of metal all around you with considerable kinetic energy, it's nice to know what everyone else's intentions are.
I use signals in most situations, because it is more road safe. I hate it when people don't use their signals in certain moments. It just makes life a lot easier.
But then again probably about 10% of the drivers on the road don't deserve to be on the road...
We need a law in the U.S. where fast cars go on the left lane and slow on the right lane. No more courtasy crap, make it a rule.
Some states have laws too concerning trucks - some 3 lane highways don't allow trucks in the left lane. I think that the driving faster in the left lane thing is just one of those courtesy rules. If you want to pass someone in the right lane, but traffic in the left lane is moving faster than you normally drive, well, speed up, signal, merge left and stay with the flow, pass, signal, and move right again.
The guy said that he didn't use his signals when turning because "It aint none of noones business wheres I'm goin!".
That's a good one. Like no one could just
follow him if they really wanted to know.
"Crap, he didn't signal his turn! We lost him...DAMN he's good!"
47% of people lie on surveys
Margins of error are usually off by 25%.
I use them most of the time, except in super low traffic areas, and out in the boonies, etc..
For the record, I'm usually quite good about signalling, but I do this too - if I'm in the middle of nowhere, and I check that there are no cars around, I'm less likely to signal. But I still do most of the time so that I don't start to lose the habit.
