I use signals in most situations, because it is more road safe. I hate it when people don't use their signals in certain moments. It just makes life a lot easier.
But then again probably about 10% of the drivers on the road don't deserve to be on the road...
We need a law in the U.S. where fast cars go on the left lane and slow on the right lane. No more courtasy crap, make it a rule.

Only one thing pisses me off more than people who don't use turn signals.

I use mine all the time... except in bad traffic on the freeways in LA.

Why not, you ask? Because in LA, if you signal to change lanes in heavy, or stop and go traffic, invariably the asshole in the other lane will speed up and close the hole. Every fscking lane change has to be a sneek attack in that hell hole of a freeway system.

Otherwise I honestly do use them all the time.

I signal most of the time....pretty much 100% of the time people need to know, and 50% of the time they dont. If im going to switch into a lane with no cars for 200 feet behind me, I usually dont bother. If I'm making a turn at an intersection and theres no oncoming cars, I usually dont bother either. If its real traffic, and the fact that I am turning is important for other drivers to know so we dont hit each other, then I always signal. Why dont I signal all the time? Laziness.

I use them most of the time, except in super low traffic areas, and out in the boonies, etc..

I use them when it's not blatantly obvious what I'm doing. If I'm sitting in a left-hand turn lane with giant arrows pointing left painted on the pavement, waiting for a green "left-arrow" light, I figure people should be able to tell what's going on without a turn signal. Also, when merging ontoth efreeway from an onramp, I don't use them. Where the hell do people think I'm going to go from the onramp besides into the right lane? Same when getting off the freeway. There's no point, I don't cut in front of anyone when getting off the freeway, and I don't start slowing down till I'm already out of the way.

I do use them when switching lanes in traffic, turning from unmarked lanes, etc.

Unfortunatly I'm dead serious.

I hope someone added chlorine to that gene pool!

Same with Bay Area traffic. It's like everybody is racing. I actually manage to sneak in a quick couple flickers of the turn signal as I'm crossing the line to make it all legit.

the only timei don't use a signal is when there is no one else around. even then i usually do it just out of habit.

i just read the article...omfg!!!!

17 percent don't signal because when they do, they forget to turn off the blinker
wtf? SO???? its not like its going to drain your battery or something. depending on why you need to signal, it should shut off automatically!

12 percent said they change lanes too frequently to bother with signals
its a fvcking highway, not a racetrack

11 percent say signaling is unimportant
how unimportant will it be when someone rear-ends them because they didn't know they were turning?

8 percent say they don't signal because other drivers don't
these must be the same people who jump off bridges because everyone else does it or they were the kids who were spoiled brats and got what they wanted because Timmy's dad got him that toy

if you haven't guessed, this is one of my biggest pet peeves!

I use turn signals on surface streets. On the highway, especially in traffic, turn signals are worthless. You can turn it on and no one will let you in. You just have to wedge your own car into the lane you want to go into, without ramming into the car in front of you.

Check dis sh!t girl, I's gonna turn witout da turn signal!

Aw damn baby, you so crazy! That's just wild!

Maybe they'll use it in the next thriller movie, along the lines of Staying Alive, or Scream.
Signalling
"You see it done every day on thousands of roads by millions of drivers. But the next time you signal....could be your last."
Cut to frantic scenes of cars signalling, then crashing and burning, people screaming and crying, etc etc.
"Signalling. Coming this summer to a highway near you."

I use turn signals on surface streets.
Really? That's great. It's tough to see anyway once you take your car subterranean.

On the highway, especially in traffic, turn signals are worthless. You can turn it on and no one will let you in.
I guess we drive in different traffic patterns or something. Ah, California. That explains it then. :p

I still use them in those situations in hopes that maybe even though they have the capability to completely NOT SEE a car, a blinking light might actually clue them in to the fact that yes, there IS a car there.

I use it most of the time. Sometimes I dont in a turn lane, and when no one is on the highway. But I always use it when it's night out.
