We'll see. They also screwed around with a sacred aspect of life: It's not about some petty bullshit thing like embezzling taxpayer money, or rigging an industry in a way that wrecks the livelihood of workers, or a way of robbing people of guaranteed rights.
This is a sport, something that actually matters, so people are going to be vocally pissed off about it.

the qatar world cup looks very much in doubt, but russia will most likely keep the upcoming tournament since there is no time to find a replacement.

SO about 1500 slaves have already died building the infrastructure in Qatar. I suppose in the end, it would be nice to save the remaining estimated 3k lives that are expected to die in building this playtoy for a dozen absurdly wealthy and fickle Qataran dickholes, but imagine those people that have already been murdered to make this happen.

Hopefully there is some way to track US money and companies in the transactions between those desert folks, as it would be very satisfying to see them see jail time as well.

..or just bulldoze all of Qatar and send those princes off to Chechnya.

If Qatar loses their turn do they get their bribe money back? It wouldn't be fair to pay all that for nothing.

I just heard about this in the news, yeah, I'm late to most parties.

My first thought was "The governing body of a sport where the players routinely fake injuries to try and gain a competitive advantage? Who'd a thunk they'd be crooked?!?!?!"

I'm guessing thats a joke right?

It's a lesson learned, if anything.

Whoosh!

Yes, it's a freaking joke.

If just 10% of those claims are true, it's frightening.

No shit. That sounds like it was written by somebody hiding in a tinfoil-lined room to avoid the black helicopters. And even so I do believe that at least 10% of it is true. Given what we already know about how FIFA operated absolutely nothing they did would be surprising.

Well, this is a good thing for FIFA. I just wonder why this idiot would resign after the election though. I bet something behind the scenes happened. Hopefully, he will be arrested soon.

Apparently, Blatter didn't resign:
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33284185
The 79-year-old Swiss was thought to have ended his 17-year reign on 2 June amid claims of corruption in world football's governing body.

But, according to Swiss newspaper Blick, Blatter told a party at a Fifa museum: "I did not resign. I put myself and my office in the hands of the Fifa congress."
....
Four days after being voted president, Blatter - who is reportedly under investigation in the United States - said: "While I have a mandate from the membership of Fifa, I do not feel that I have a mandate from the entire world of football.

"Therefore, I have decided to lay down my mandate at an extraordinary elective congress. I will continue to exercise my functions as Fifa president until that election."

However, Blatter did not use the words 'resign' or 'resignation'.

Like I said awhile back: This is soccer, so it's really serious business, not something like your basic corruption of the occasional illegal imprisonment or execution of political opponents or poisoning water supplies to save money. Wealthy and important people will be facing real punishment for this.

Everyone has their price.

The Justice Department has said that numerous guilty pleas in the case have resulted in agreements to forfeit more than $190 million, and an additional $100 million has been frozen in the U.S. and abroad. The U.S. has sought to freeze assets in 13 countries.
