This is why we need that ginormous cookie emoticon, for instances like these.
Here, have one :bigcookie:
Well, this is a good thing for FIFA. I just wonder why this idiot would resign after the election though. I bet something behind the scenes happened. Hopefully, he will be arrested soon.
Here's my uneducated guess.
- Investigators were incensed that the guy had the audacity to not step aside before the election.
- There wasn't enough time to ramp up the arm-twisting in the two days between the arrests and the election, and the guy knew he had the votes to win anyway.
- It took a few days for the word to be spread behind the scenes that the bribe party is over and SHTF day is imminent for the Emperor-For-Life, and if FIFA would like to retain even a shred of dignity, the choice is clear. This is how the other corrupt officials can stay in power - throw people overboard until the lust for vengeance is sated.

hope the bunch get sent to prison.
The scope of the investigation, by multiple countries... I just don't see this ending well for anyone involved.
oh god yes
hopefully Last week Tonight hits this again this week, it was great when they did it 2 weeks ago
We'll see. They also screwed around with a sacred aspect of life: It's not about some petty bullshit thing like embezzling taxpayer money, or rigging an industry in a way that wrecks the livelihood of workers, or a way of robbing people of guaranteed rights.Rich people. They might get a slap on the wrist but once all this rolls over and people forgot about it they'll still be swimming in their swimming pools, which are part of their yacht, which is actually in a larger pool, part of a larger yacht.

This is a sport, something that actually matters, so people are going to be vocally pissed off about it.
Thankfully this will finally put an end to corruption in FIFA.![]()
