I read the election was on hold, and it should be. They need to redo the process with new candidates.

Blatter needs to step down immediately, but he's gone into full defense mode. It's only a "few" people and he wasn't aware.

Putin is backing Blatter saying basically the US has no authority and we're trying to make others adhere to our laws. Things coming out of his mouth are more and more terrifying.

Putin is going to be the next Kim Jong Un if he doesn't get shit together given the plummeted of oil prices. Russia is going to be deep in the crapper.

Oh yeah, the Clinton aspect to this is interesting too. I read one report where Mr. Clinton, who was on the committee to bring it to the US, heard we lost it to Qatar he broke a mirror.

Then, the Clinton foundation rec'd ~$5 mil from FIFA. I guess everything was kosher after that?

Seriously folks, this is going to get interesting and it's just getting started.

There are aids who have seen documents concerning bribes that are afraid to speak. A subpoena might help loosen them up though.

Note sure if you're joking or not but along the same line as this, I love seeing my fellow Americans display their ignorance of the most played/viewed sport on the planet because I get a good laugh out of it, each and every time.

Not joking. I put it right up there with golf or watching grass grow. Not ignorant, just don't care.

No one is saying this doesn't happen in other areas, but FIFA is the biggest and most globally influential organization. There are more countries involved in FIFA than the UN. That is in addition to being the governing body of the world's most popular sport.

I honestly can't think of any other organization other than the FBI & DOJ that would have the balls, clout, or credibility to pull off this investigation.

What I get a good laugh out of is someone who thinks that because something is popular it's good. Usually the opposite is true. The things that have the widest appeal generally get there because they're so perpetually bland that they don't offend. In the case of soccer it's also the game of the poor and downtrodden, it's the only team sport with no barriers of entry. For at least half the world it's the only game in town, so of course they love it. Track it among people who have a choice among many different sports and it's FAR FAR FAR less popular. It's never going to be a big hit here because we have a choice in entertainment and we overwhelmingly choose something else. That doesn't place us behind the rest of the world or make us backwards, a choice is something to be envied.

I don't think anyone is acting that way. It's just the size and scope of it which makes it so intriguing.

Let me guess, fan of American Football? How are the commercials interrupted by gameplay?

Honestly football (American) is timed pretty well. The commercials aren't that bad except for the super bowl however those commercials are the best of the best and can be pretty entertaining.
I haven't watched a full soccer game in years so I don't want to compare.

haha, what??? if you'd have attended a game in person, you'd see men standing on the field with arms folded waiting for the all-important commercials to end, a huge amount of the time. it's brutal.

it's "timed pretty well" because the commercials are the main product

In soccer they show banner ads at bottom of screen. The game does not stop for commercials.

Let me guess, mommy didn't let you play football and you feel like less of a man? Or was it that you lost your girl to a football player and feel like less of a man? Or could you simply not make the team and you feel like less of a man?

I played football and follow it fairly closely. With that said, soccer is a better spectator sport. There is not much standing around and isn't interrupted. But, sure, go ahead and pretend liking football is making you cool and manly.

lulz nope. I was in rugby, volleyball and track (hurdles). I don't need a metal cage and helmet just so I can be a human torpedo.

Makes you wonder why it took the US to bring down this ridiculously and comically corrupt organisation. Does the EU not have similar means?

I hate to say it, but this is what happens when you have third world countries running the sport. They just lack the judicial expertise to keep tabs on these things. Unless FIFA is utterly cleaned out entirely, I would suggest maybe Europe and North America break away and form their own soccer organisation. Fuck FIFA.

did you see the photo of fifas boardroom?
shit looks like something from a bond movie

Boardroom1.jpg

Full of $3300 chairs, too. Probably $150k worth.

Good choice, however. Stylish and ridiculously comfortable. Nabbed one on Craigslist for $800.
