Interesting to speculate on what's going on here. Maybe people, having seen what 'cracking down on immigration' actually entails (in terms of creating an authoritarian state), have decided the 'cure' is worse than the 'disease'?

Or maybe events have concentrated minds on the benefits on migration (like having enough workers in particular fields)?

Or is it people suddenly realising their own faces are at risk, causing them to reconsider their support for leopards?

Or maybe people are waking up on how they were duped by Trump?

Seems to me US citizens being snatched off the streets should concern everyone.

Opinion doesn't form in a vacuum.

Anti-immigration sentiments were fanned for years through the "criminal" angle, and now people are seeing the results of that and realizing, "maybe those things aren't so good after all." Most people don't think the guy picking crops, caring for loved ones at a nursing home, or putting shingles on their house is some dangerous criminal.

I'm a Democrat...have only voted Democrat for more than 50 years...yet I'm very anti- illegal immigration. Round them up, ship them home...but FFS, have a proper guest worker program in place.

Having masked unidentified gunman showing up all over the place is definitely not something most REAL Americans anticipated, although they should have known better.
Stroke victim Fetterman was on Fox this morning defending ICE. He can eat a bag of dicks.

People are only here illegally because we have a broken legal immigration system that takes thousands of dollars and access to proper resources to get through, and it's largely kept broken because of a cultivated fear of brown people.

Just a hunch, but I wonder if there are a lot of folks in middle America who, when it comes to politics, are essentially thinking “I’m not racist, but I support [insert racist policy here]”.

Once these policies move from the realm of philosophical debate to actual execution by a racist administration, these folks might have a bit more self reflection/self awareness or whatever and think, “I still support [insert racist policy here] but you’re doing it wrong!”

In other words, they will poll as disagreeing with Trump on how immigration enforcement is going…but they aren’t changing their votes.

Can't look down on them right now because it doesn't hurt Democrats. Give the Dems a slight majority in the House in 2026 and meat will be back on the menu.

And snatched from their workplaces.

And snatched as they report to previously scheduled official hearings.

And in front of their children, shoved into unmarked cars by masked ICE agents and whisked away.

Yeah, I ate some fruits and vegetables today, likely picked by Latinos.

I know for a fact that the guys who tore off and replaced my roof spoke Spanish, probably exclusively while on the job.

That doesn't mean you hang outside immigration court like a vulture where people are trying to work their way through the system legally and arrest them
