I see - so you are sorta like a real business? I say sorta since the systems listed on your site are not exactly up to date, not to mention the ridiculous prices. I did actually sell some 1.1 gig processor machines myself, but it was nearly 2 years ago, and they went for about 1/4 less than your listed price AT THAT TIME.

But thanks for the m/b offer.

I'm not so sure that www.vertexpc.com is his website. It look way too amateur and out-of-date, like the website of a defunct PC company from a few years ago or something.

Yea, my 12 year old nephew's web site is almost that low end. But that is indeed the link provided. I can't wait to order the "Millionaire System", with a 1.2 gig Athlon for only $4499!

I hope so cause I went and ordered 1 last night B4 Newegg changed the discription as FIC's website stated optional RAID and that's what Newegg printed it had!

Let us know how it goes :)

K..won't get it till after the weekend but the invoice had this discription :13-133-005 MB FIC|AU13 NFCE2 U2/1394/LAN/AGP R ...so I'm hoping the R means RAID

At least you can be sure there's FireWire... and I can hardly imagine that board with FireWire but without RAID.

I do hope it does have RAID, if so I'll seriously consider upgrading for the benefit of dual channel memory. But I can find no information on FIC producing any AU motherboards with RAID. But I suspect the R is for the Realtek ALC650 5.1 Channel Codec - anotherwords the on-board sound. Particularly since the pictures of the board on the Newegg site certainly shows no RAID IDE interfaces.

Good luck.

Yeah, but the pics on the site don't show firewire either, so maybe he'll get lucky. I tried to hold out for an affordable nForce2 board with IDE RAID but I couldn't wait any longer and went with the MSI. If a RAID board comes out then I will go for it.

The guy didn't actually provide a link, his name was just vertexpc. The link was guessed at my another AT member. I sincerely hope that that is not his website, or he might as well pack it up now.

I dont think that "R" stands for Realtek. I also don't think that it stands for RAID since there's no slash before it... My guess would be Retail.

Seriously, if it is his site, he'll never get no respect here at AT.

Solema is right, even though it's only the 1394 pin-headers, they are not on the board pictured at newegg's site. They do appear on the image and in the manual at the fic site - and there is much more information at the www.fic.com.tw site, as opposed to the www.fica.com site. But there is no mention of RAID anywhere on any of the FIC sites. It does, however, mention the optional SATA interface.

Actually, FIC's site does mention IDE RAID. Taken from the AU13 product details:

Onboard IO
2 Serial ports

1 Parallel port

1 RJ-45 connector

1 6 Channel pin header

1 PS/2 mouse, 1 PS/2 keyboard connector

4 rear USB connectors and 1 front pin-header supports 6 devices (USB 2.0 support)

2 IEEE 1393 pin-header

1 Audio connector Line-in, Line-out, MIC-in (vertical)

WOL/WOR pin header

1 rear IEEE1394 connector

2 Serial ATA connectors (mfg. option)

2 IDE RAID connectors support ATA100/133

3 CPU/SYS/CHIP fan pin header

Yea, I see it now. Then I looked in the manual, here's what it tells us:

"...serial ATA feature of AU13 replaces the standard parallel ATA......the onboard serial ATA feature includes RAID function (level 0,1) to provide you with a......."

So, if your m/b includes the SATA option, it can do RAID as well. Too bad it's impossible to get any SATA drives yet. And lastly, the pictures from newegg's site show that the SATA interface is missing, and I'm certain they'd say SATA if it had it. So it's a cool feature, but not that useful today.

Not to woory as I have SATA drives and will report back ASAP...NewEggs site states that the pics may not be the item and if it doesn't have RAID after they advertised it so then it's being pawned off to 1 client or going back cause I'm floating with the Abit @ the Moment ;)

On Order. Heck, I couldn't get them from Seagate even with a NDA. Let me know how they bench, I understand that the drive itself is only capable of 133mbps, tho the interface can transfer data at the 150 of SATA?

FIC Tiawan site always has the most updated info.

Mwave has board and also lists Raid.

So it appears that the 2 IDE connectors are Raid, and it includes Firewire connector.

Manufacturers options can include:
Serial ATA with RAID feature and 2 Serial ATA connectors
5.1 Channel Audio Bracket

pspada...the 1's I'm testing aren't ...Mines the Cuda's which have arleady been tested HERE by MS and a couple of other sites. They perform decent but I think the newer comealongs (ie.Fujitsu, WD's) are sharpening the sword...If you ordered the Cudas already ask for the SATA PCI card rebate which will thecken the wallet.

No, I'll have to wait a few months to buy into 'em, even though I've got the SATA interface on my AN19E, as I've got several 80 meg and a 120 meg Maxtor's that I've only had for a short time. The good thing about that is that when I do buy in, the technology should have matured and we will be seeing extra speed inherent in the interface. But to be honest, while some extra speed would be nice, I'd really just LOVE to dispose of some of those $(#&^^@% ribbon cables.

Yeah, I'll admit that my main motivation for SATA right now is those kick-ass cables they use. :p

Yup. And a real power connector, after all these years and broken hard drive power pins!

Yup. Truthfully, though, I really don't see SATA becoming a viable and cost-effective option until they finalize the 600MB/s (not sure if that is right number) transfer speed. I don't really see any necessity to get a new technology that doesn't even offer any tangible performance improvements.
