Looks like some very nice gains are made with the TMC ecu module. The Magneti Morelli gives you more power and coupled with an intake and exhausts can give you what looks like 200 HP.

Interesting!

If these ever get to 15k used I would buy one just to play with!

The 500 has style. Just not your typical machismo Amerian style. Italians produce some sexy vehicles. I actually like the body on the Abarth. Little more aggressive while still retaining its classic looks. A girl car is either a minivan or crossover 4x4.

new jLO commercial to complement the Abarf featuring hoss jLO instead of girly jLO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0IkmstjZes
girl car.
barf.

Yeah I have zero understanding of why anyone would think this would be a good idea even at 15k. 15k could buy you a NA Miata with a fully built motor (all upgraded internals) + turbo + upgraded clutch/flywheel, better brakes/wheels/tires, which would be about 2 million times more fun.

Interior quality

fit & finish

What I want to know is - So the Dodge Dart will have 200 WHP for under $1K in mods out of a high strung 1.3L!

I'm impressed!

Lets not forget the Dart is not compact sized. Interior volume is 97cu/ft and thats bigger than the midsize Jetta

I'd rather get a $1k or less domestic rust trap and a big bottle of nitrous and spray it to the moon johnnie! I mean, it would make one fun ride at least once right?

You really can't compare a new car with a used.

I agree the abarth is still a girl car and would be with 600 horsepower.

Just suggested the Dart if you want the Abarth engine, but not the car.

Yeah, I was responding to someone talking about picking up a used Abarth for $15k though, so it was used vs. used. Granted way old NA Miata vs. ~3 (?? by the time it's $15k??) year old Abarth.

The Abarth new is starting at $22k before options.

Used vs Used :) check the quote by ExDeath up there, the OP stealth edited it out, but it was captured by death before it was removed.

Interior quality .. does that matter much in a small performance-oriented car? I guess for some.

Looks. LOL the 500 looks like a pregnant roly poly.

Fit and Finish. Sort or similar to Interior quality, but the Miatas were known to be exceptionally solid vehicles. They're not notorious for falling apart or being haphazardly assembled by any stretch.

In the end : ~160HP 1.4T vs. 250-300HP+ 1.6T (or swap to a prepped 1.8T). And yes, there are links out there to 250hp 1.6Ts on stock internals (!!). I'm not sure I recommend that necessarily, but it's proven to be possible.

RWD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FWD.

And if we're talking new vs. new for a $22k+ car, Speed3 for a beefier FWD, or WRX for just an all around better car. The only thing that will suffer is the fuel economy.

Fify.

The Dodge Dart doesn't share one bolt with the Neon.
In fact it's the best parts of what FIAT's have on an Alfa Romeo platform.

What did I stealth edit arkaign?

While I do agree that rwd beats fwd and that a miata would probably a better buy for most of us gearheads my point in posting this was to discuss the power gains of the engine.

It does become tedious when half the comments are zomg gurls cars and omg u should buy a ms3 or a stang..

My bad, forgot the quote was under the last link thing :)

It is pretty impressive for a 1.4L

I think the Abarth is a neat little car. I don't think I'd ever buy one, but it looks fun to drive.

meh nothing special there. Scion tC2 has 180hp and weighs 200 lbs less.
My tC1 has 160hp and weighs 300lbs less.

Heh. This reminds me of the other day. Some guy in a tC pulled up next to my 2012 charger v6 at a light and tried to race me. I simply floored it when it turned green and utterly destroyed him. It was amazing to watch how much distance he lost as he shifted gears. And I could hear his little engine straining through the goofy aftermarket exhaust. Meanwhile I was just shooting forward, the Z-F tranny switching through the gears with nary a skip. I hope he didn't think he actually stood a chance. He probably thought I was driving a 2011 or something. It was fun. I usually don't do this kind of juvenile red-light racing, but this guy was asking for it.
