With Verizon's LTE phones coming online within the next 2-3 weeks I don't feel the need for an iPhone.
My girlfriend however was intrigued by the shiny, so I got one for her this morning.

Bah, there is a small learning curve, but it appears you're just afraid of change. :p

I have used the driod phones including the driod x but I see no reason to switch from my iphone with all the apps I have invested in as well as all the music i have in iTunes. From what I saw the driods are pretty much the same thing as the iPhone, its a great touchscreen phone I just don't see at all how it is better.

One of them, Lena Hill, 22, brought food and blankets at 6:15 a.m., expecting to have to camp out in a line to get the device. There wasn't a line, so Hill just waited in her car.
"It's an iPhone. There's so much hype about it," she said. "You just have to get it."

I want to literally punch these people in the face.

Scatter rose petals over your junk and take a picture and set it as wallpaper. Present on Valentine's Day. Imagine how much she'll love you when she first turns it on.

Much faster and much more versatile. Your issues with iTunes is proof of that.

Free yourself from the yoke.

why must there be a learning curve on a phone like this?

All Google needs to do is polish things up
- Finish C&P implementation. It was nice to laugh at Apple, but the fact that they have better C&P implementation by far makes the Android version useless. Heck, HTC Sense had to make it decent.
- Hardware accelerated UI hello? It's funny seeing DroidX owners and their CHOPPY home screens. Sure, you have the "openness" of being able to get a new launcher, but why should anyone HAVE to get a new launcher just to have the basics work? This is like buying a car that can only drive on a flat road. Why should I have to change the engine out to drive on a hill in San Francisco? Maybe it should've been designed better?

The fact is if Google spent a little more time and adjusted the wrinkles of Android out, then we wouldn't have to rely on dumbass carriers to roll out skins left and right and delay our updates.

Yeah, but will Verizon get iphone5 when they come out? I have a feeling Verizon will have to wait 1-4 months before they even get there line of iphone5's.

Don't know about that, I believe it was discovered that these iPhones have both a GSM/CDMA receiver. I'm guessing that this might mean both AT&T and Verizon could be using the same phone til 4G versions come out.

Currently, waiting for a iPhone5 with 4G before switching. Verizon's download speeds are too damn slow on CDMA.

My phone is plenty fast, I did not notice anything that much faster on my buddies driod x. As far as versatility goes thats debatable. I have no issues with iTunes, I have been using iTunes with ipods for years so that really has nothing to do with the phone. The only thing I even jailbreak my iphone for is the hotspot and with the next update I will have that so no need for jailbreaking in the future. Aslo I can stream video to my apple TV, last I checked driods could not do that :-D

Sounds like my sister. She says the iPhone is better than every phone out there but can't explain why.

Likely that there'll be an iPhone 5 in about 4 months.

Wait.

This is primarily why I'm waiting, I'd like an iPhone (really only because of the massive app store which supports a number of reference book apps that I would use - honestly, I should check if the same references are available for android) but early generation (I know the 4 has been out, but this is the first 4 on Verizon) Apple products generally have problems, and this one isn't 4G.

Maybe Verizon customers are generally smarter and/or more patient? Maybe they realize it's easier to get the phone online than to stand out in the cold weather?
Or maybe they're happy with their Android phone and don't want a freaking iphone??

I imagine all the massive fanboys have already switched to AT&T just to have the iPhone, and the lesser fanboys who wouldn't/couldn't switch got theirs in the online pre-order.

There are plenty of people who want an iphone but are waiting until their current contract expires. That will make them eligible for the discount price.

Sales will pick up.

I'm surprised that there was really any real hoopla over Verizon getting the iPhone at this stage in the game. Pretty much anything you can do on an iPhone you can do on an Android phone, and those have been available on Verizon forever now. I'm not saying that one is better or worse than the other, just that I don't think the iPhone really brings anything that you can't already do on Android. There was a time when Verizon getting the iPhone would have been huge, but not anymore.

It's still a big deal. Just because one can do the same thing as the other doesn't mean people don't have a preference. People would flip shit if they walked into a restaurant and could CHOOSE between coke or pepsi, instead of having to deal with whatever vendor the restaurant chose. They both do the same thing, but some people care.
